Maybe the clause was a sale of £10 million with a £5 million add on per season if he plays 30 games in a season? £14 million ain't so crazy then, is it? If you go back a few pages (or even search the net) there is a quote from Tony Scholes saying that the clause was with the club, not the player. If the clause with the club has expired, then isn't it safe to assume that the problems are not being able to agree personal terms with Martins Indi? No doubt there'll be people saying that we've had twelve months to do that, but maybe Bruno didn't want to commit early? And there's nothing really stopping Porto from now asking for more than the £8M that's being reported is there?

Is this thread "Bruno-medical tomorrow" now being produced by the same team that brought us "Josh Tymon to sign next week?"

Portuguese paper saying something may be imminent - but who the hell knows anymore? www.noticiasaominuto.com/desporto/830601/martins-indi-quase-certo-no-stoke-cityMartins Indi almost certain at Stoke City Dutch central about to return to the Premier League club.
Podera be for hours on official yet another sale on Dragon. Bruno Martins Indi should return to Stoke City, but this time definitively, in a deal that will take several million to the coffers of FC Porto. As advances the Record newspaper, in the issue of Thursday, the Dutch central remains integrated in the squad of blue and white, but negotiations between FC Porto and Stoke City will already be well advanced.
After Martins Indi have been in the Premier League club last season on loan, the potters want your return in order to strengthen the rearmost row of the land.
What causes some strangeness in the case is the fact that Stoke City have not triggered the Martins Indi purchase clause at the end of the loan, previously valued at 10 million euros, and now come up with 14 million.
Love the phrase 'rearmost row of the land' to describe the defence.

If he goes to Everton then it's our own fault for dragging it out for so long!!! Got to admit, Everton would be more appealing to Bruno, what with their history, recent signings and having Koeman as manager!!! 😕

Wouldn't trust Sky sources as far as I could throw them - but wouldn't be a massive shock if Koeman was interested having managed him for 3 years. www.skysports.com/transfer-centre09:41 MARTINS INDI REMAINS IN PORTUGAL Bruno Martins Indi remains in Portugal and is training with Porto, according to Sky sources.
Stoke City remain interested in doing a permanent deal for the player after he spent last season on loan at the bet365 Stadium.
Sky Sports News HQ understands another Premier League club have made an offer for Martins Indi, while Schalke are one of a number of European teams interested.

Koeman had him in Holland so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch...
I said as much at the end of the season as you have to admit he has impressed and for the money, let's face it it is chicken feed for Everton after what they have spent. The only thing in our favour is that they just spent a bomb on Keane.

Extremely frustrating and depressing.
Of course we don't know everything that is going on behind the scenes, but all of these updates / rumours can't be enhancing our reputation!
In fact clubs may become vary wary of trying to do business with us and players having second thoughts about joining
The only positives at the moment seem to be the promise shown by some of our youngsters

There's been more fudge and misdirection from the club on this transfer than I can ever remember. God forbid they acquainted supporters (and perhaps themselves) with the truth.

The only positives at the moment seem to be the promise shown by some of our youngsters I really can't imagine that clubs pay any attention or mind to what is written in papers or on internet blogging sites. If 'Sky Sources' and rumours really influence a Chairman or Chief Exec's decision on whether to do business with a very wealthy established Premier League club, then they're probably in the wrong position.

This is the BMI thread, why should it not be in here? And it really isn't, it's the reason why we're here. We shouldn't be here. He should be in Switzerland on the back of playing his second friendly for us. You're right and you're wrong. Yes the option fuck up has lead us to where we are now. From heretofore the option/no option debacle has no relevance as to whether we sign Bruno or not, therefore it's moot! You've the option to start an option thread How do we know that we didn't try to exercize the option but couldn't come to terms with the player? Something doesn't add up.
