TORY SCUM Almost 3 in 10 think austerity contributed to so many dying at Grenfell Tower, poll suggests. The Guardian So more than 7 in 10 don't think austerity contributed to so many dying at Grenfell Tower. Interesting. No, the 7 in 10 didn't specify an opinion . But then again I practice forensic statistics for a living . And i'm good at it . You're a spurious poster on a SCFC MB with a casual bent for Scottish Conservatism. How on earth could you be expected to contribute to a rational debate ? Seriously ? How ? R.

Not really. Just more political hyperbole dressing up opinion as (nearly) fact. Take this for example; How does he know if the repeal of legislation in 2012 had any impact on how the fire spread. He is just seizing the moment to make a political point. Yet more selective distorted nonsense. The sort of thing our residential stat guru "rat" got caught out with above.

Documents emerged last week showing that contractors slashed cladding costs by almost £300,000 under pressure from Kensington and Chelsea. An “urgent” email on 16 July 2014 from KCTMO’s project manager told its quantity surveyor, Artelia: “We need good costs for Cllr Feilding Mellen,” the former deputy leader of Kensington and Chelsea. The response included a proposed £293,368 cut to the cost of the cladding. Zinc cladding with a fire resistant core was then replaced with cheaper aluminium panels without the same fire resistance, which failed to contain the blaze. I could weep . And nobody blames the Tories ? Yeah , right . Cllr Feilding Mellen should hang for this . www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jul/06/grenfell-fire-proof-cladding-specified-by-architects-only-used-on-ground-floor

This bastard Cllr Rock Feilding-Mellen still hasn't resigned as a councillor .
Apparently , Feilding-Mellen is a property developer . What kind of council allows a property developer to sit as convener of its housing committee? (As we've seen an incompetent and corrupt Tory one) .
He swanned around playing with other people's money and wanted brownie points for making the Grenfell refurb a cut price job . Because of him the cladding costs were reduced .
Did he approve the gas pipes running through that building too ? Did he accept that building from the contractors when the gas piping hadn't even been boxed in ? We already know he approved exchanging zinc cladding for aluminium cladding .
He should be behind bars , not still operating as a ward councillor .

When I moved into the house I live in (at the time council house) I replaced a single socket in my daughters bedroom with a double one, however the entire house was still wired with the rubber coated wire it had when the house was built this had perished and was unsafe. "We'll send someone round when we can" I was told. "Can I have you name so I know who to blame if it sets fire in my four year old daughters bedroom I asked?" "I'll get someone there right away" was the new message. The entire estate had to be rewired. On the same estate the wife's friend had her baby in one of those bouncers that hook onto a door frame. I kid you not it was on a hot water pipe that was run across the doorway in a retrospective central heating fitting. She was oblivious to what the pipe was and the danger it posed. Since buying our house we have had to repair or replace so many things it's untrue. The window latches all went rotten, the plug socket switches all stopped working, the doors didn't shut, the floor boards have all been cut and are loose they put in double glazing then screwed cup hooks into the plastic frames for people to hang their nets from (no I'm not joking) They used the wrong mastic that all went mouldy. 15 years in we are still trying to repair the sub standard cheap ass shit that the council fitted to this house and the shoddy workmanship that fitted it. I know many other people have had the same experience. We feel lucky to get the chance to own our own home again but I wanted you people who have never lived on a council estate to know that our council buys cheap shit at every available opportunity. Fitted by people that don't have to answer for the shoddy workmanship that they perform.(well not to the customer tenants anyway). The rental on houses like ours now stands at about £400 a month, there is no way we could afford that.

Sad to say that it doesn't surprise me one bit,it's endemic. When training for one of the trades I have, the advice I was given was "to get a job with a company responsible for maintaining social Housing Stock if possible, any mistakes you make,no one gives a shit..." I've encountered some truly appalling attitudes towards Social Housing tenants.

Councils in a nutshell, they talk a good job and that's it. We've had ex-council employees working for us, they thought they were the bees knees in the council until they got into the private sector, and saw how backward and far behind councils are. Do you know if private non profit making social housing companies provide better services? I had the same pitfalls when buying our first house in Sneyd green, that 30's wiring and horse hair plaster falling off the walls when you touched it a bit too hard, rotten window frames filled in with filler and painted over to look like wood, heating pipes blocked with sludge, you never see these things when viewing a house.

Rent on a 1 bed flat down here (havering) if you can get them £850-1000 per month How the hell do illegal immigrants get the money to pay these prices. This is why slum landlords, bed letting, etc are prevalent and why people cant give a true figure on people in flats the other thing is unscrupulous employers as well who employ these immigrants as cheap labour (below minimum wage) It is not the immigrants problem but an underclass of people abusing the situation for personal profit if theses jobs didn't exist and better checks were in place then fewer illegals would come across. But if you think how bad it must be in the countries for these people to risk life limb, bad living conditions, exploitation, you start to see that there is a major problem until we can sort there nations out they will keep arriving. Recently foreign aid came into focus and people wanted to stop it all what we need to do is focus it better and put terms on it ie if you do this we will support you if not no aid also any corruption no aid and this needs to be done across the world to take the political aspect out of it get all contributing countries to pay into a pot and get the united nations to distribute it as a whole.
