I can not believe some of the comments on here!
I would have Rooney in a heart beat at Stoke.
How can we say no toba player who has broken records and can still play. Hes only 31! Yes his best years are behind him i understand. But bloody hell he is better than any player we currently have.
He will provide world wide coverage to bet365 and bring money in from all parts ofvthe world. It will show Stoke are a good prospect to any player as it shows ambition.
He is still a good player! Imagine him linking up with shaq and arnie and slipping in berahino. A great dead ball speacialist and penaltybtaker.
Not too mention off the pitch whatbhe would bring. Experience and helpingvthe younger players.
I can not see one negative about this! Onlybthat it probably wont happen!

The club really need to think about laying on one of those 'Ellisons' style super exec coaches to do the rounds of Prestbury, Alderley Edge, Bowdon and Wilmslow to save our superstars from having to fire up their Bentleys each morning. They must see so many of their team mates stuck in traffic every day. This may be the USP Wazza needs to make him sign 😊

Hè needs to knock the fags on the head..... then his stamina would improve. Then hè might Just might capture his form back.
How has this thread got to 12 pages anyway ?????????

If we could get Rooney at a knock-down price (would they give him a free-transfer?) he'd be perfect for the middle of the three in a 4-2-3-1.
Couldn't see him playing any other position.

Perhaps fans see the prospect of the club spending an eyewatering amount of money that could be used to transform the squad for the future on one player who has been in decline for at leat 5 years as a publicity stunt and just wish we signed players for footballing reasons.

Classic Stoke raise expectations with talk of a £45 million signing then take a freebie.
If we have £45 million to spend we could replace half the bloody team with it and God knows it needs it.
Just think that's 10 players at £4.5 million each all under the age of 30 and you guys want Shrek who has had the United team and the England team built around him for 13 years during which both club and country have declined massively.
Never rated him as a striker always should have been a no10 and has not been top class for at least 5 years.

You couldn't re-tool an average Championship team for that.

12M a year wages. What does he even need the money for? Does Colleen like shopping that much?
Let him go to China and he will be pining for home after 3 months.

From the early deals looks like it will be a crazy summer as the big clubs pay higher fees and wages. Not sure 40m works out that much unless you have amazing scouts. Rooney is still a very good player and would be great at Stoke but for 100k a week tops now plus whatever Bet 365 want to pay him for his image

Why not, we got Denis Viollet from them a few years back? Not sure of his goal record for club and country but I doubt if it's anywhere near Rooney's and I wouldn't have thought he was turning down £1,000,000 from China to come here.

Violet's goal record was excellent and he played much of his career in midfield. Very few better players for Stoke.

Whatever you think of him, he definitely inspired one of the best bits of football commentary ever...
And wayne rooney is to be subbed by Sir alex. Which is the not the first time he's been pulled off by a 70 year old.
