"Anyone who casually thinks this season is just a blip for Stoke City is walking with their head in the cloud. It's serious stuff and requires rectifying this summer if we are not to suffer the same, or far worse, next season." Link to full column.

Normally think he's a bit of a drama queen.
But hard to argue with that - and certainly hope Hughes realises it and his recent sanguine attitude is merely for public consumption

Pej is spot on and I am getting sick and tired and indeed concerned that our chairman, manager and some players seem to think it is ok because of what we achieved in the past. I would suggest they are the ones who need to re adjust their perspective to avoid the same mistakes happening again.

Mike is probably as fed up of this season as most of us are! He will want us to get better, like most of us do!

This for me hits the nail on the head . Hughes knowledge of the game is massive but for some reason its just not happening managing stoke city . I am sure if he was a tv pundit for say wales v england he would make a lot of sense . But for some reason its not happening for him as manager of stoke . TP has great knowledge of the game too but in his last season at stoke , it just wouldn't happen for him .

"Players like Marko Arnautovic and Xherdan Shaqiri, your flair players, have only scored against teams below Stoke in the table, but it's against the top sides that players have to prove their ability."
The weekly dig. The man's obsessed.

The weekly dig. The man's obsessed. I agree! Loved Pej as a player, but he seems really bitter against Stoke at times. He's probably forgotten how Arnie and Shaq tore both Manc clubs and Everton apart last season. Selective amnesia I think. Don't get me wrong, this summer has to be a good god one for Stoke, and there's a lot of sorting out to do. But to just snipe from the sidelines like Pej does for his employers just makes him come over like a bitter ex pro, which is a shame. Maybe Barry Mcgraham sets an agenda for him!

Pej is saying what many have said on this Board, but his name and reputation might make the hierarchy at Stoke wake up to the situation they are in. To say that his article is just words without substance is nonsense. Peter Coates is exhibiting alarming complacency, and fails to recognise the delusional mindset which appears to be gripping Mark Hughes, and maybe others at the Club. If Hughes is still capable of detached rationality, he should realise that his situation is likely to deteriorate next season probably to the point of relegation this time next year. The only sensible solution is for him to hand in his resignation after the Southampton game. It would save us all a lot of bother. including himself.

So we would have been in a relegation battle if we'd lost to Hull? So it's only fair to say if we'd hung on against West Brom or Man Utd we'd be have been nowhere near it.
Whilst we're talking hypothetically......

No matter how you cut it, if you are winning one game in ten, something major has to change or you are going down.
Doesn't matter If you like Pejic or not... Winning one in ten equals three or four wins a season... Equals relegation.

Can I choose the 10 games between late September and early October when we got 18 points as a counter argument? Fresh start in August......

Pej is spot on. He does know his football and is always honest about our team (good or bad). If we don't heed his words we could be in a relgation dog fight next season. Something none of want to see!!

I'd be happy with Hughes if the players were showing on the pitch that they were fully onboard with him.
Only my opinion but, to me, what we've seen this season tells me they are in doubt.
I've questioned his idea of defence from day one.
You can add midfield, forwards and his man management in general this season.
