Harry Redknapp, Brendan Rodgers I'd even take David Moyes over Hughes. So you'd take a manager who has been consistently rubbish in his last 3 jobs and just got relegated? I agree with the sentiment and I wouldn't want him at all. But I think he did OK at Man Yoo all things considered. He's got a better win percentage in the league than Mourinho.

I know what you mean, and I think United was the best of the 3, but that's not saying much - he signed his own death warrant buying Fellaini in my view and just seemed totally overawed by the job. Sociedad was poor and the wrong job. What worries me is his statement on week 2 this season that Sunderland were in a relegation battle. Whilst that might have been true, you just don't say it and flatten everyone. There has been no sign of any uplift all year, yet Sam kept much the same squad up last season. Coates was a big admirer of Everton in Moyes' time (isn't Mrs C a toffees fan?) so it wouldn't surprise me, but please no! We need someone to lift the place, not another dinosaur. Glad we agree he's totally unsuitable. Just hope Coates does!

Even after Sociedad I would have wanted him here but that was ridiculous. He's got to get them promoted at the first time of asking to save his career.

What manager would keep Sunderland up? He did very well at Preston, very well at Everton, not really too bad at Man Utd, but he was left with a weakened squad and took over from an all-time great. Real Sociedad was pretty crappy, but it was a new league for him. He has a much better C.V than our current manager.

I would still take him over Hughes though.

It's been a bad season by any measure. Second fewest wins since promotion, and, depending on the outcome of the game against Southampton, we might finish with the fewest points since promotion. On top of that, it's been dreadful to watch. Team has been on a downward trajectory since January 2016. I think keeping Hughes, with his penchant for dreadful starts throwing away all important points, will put us into relegation scrap from day one of next season.

We have 5 points in the last 9 games (around a quarter of a season). That would be 22 points across all 38 games. Things are getting grim. I'm guessing the first 9 would have been just as bad It was actually slightly better; however, the first 6 games were dreadful - 2 points. Or 12.7 points for the season if that form had continued.

If he doesn't get the long walk after southampton you have to wonder which way the crow flies.

5b points out of 27 says it all!! Hughes has lost the plot and can't get the best out of a squad wo potentially could be in top 8. He MUST GO!

Bowen took responsibility for QPR last game before Hughes departure and this has been rumoured on twitter last night - trying to find the link. Probably speculation - Unless Mark decides to walk, I doubt PC will sack him without a successor lined up. He wouldn't comment on future changes earlier on this season when he did air his concerns re our poor run of results. Let's hope the players turn up on Sunday so that we are talking about a good performance this time next week.

No we will have good and bad but we are a solid good team. Solid? Our fullbacks are so poor Shawcross and Indi (who has not signed) have to cover both their own positions and out wide Our midfield is woeful and pacy teams just run through them See Arsenal as an example And we can't score a bloody goal to save our lives We really are in a shocking state

Yes we are. We are relegation candidates even if we get rid of him because of the state of the squad. We are entering a very pivotal summer and if we get it wrong, it could be another 20 odd years of hurt. Get it right and it could set us up for the future generations. The Coates family need to make very difficult decisions and need to back the manager, whoever he is. We need to refresh the squad and start to build a squad that can last us for the next 5-7 years. Long and short of it, neglecting to sign younger, hungry players and persisting with the old guard isn't a suistainable option and it'll come back to bite us right on the arse if we end up having a shit summer. Something's not right at this club. There have been too many unjustifiable contract extensions for us to be taken seriously. We have got worse and worse with key issues being ignored. How could Hughes be happy with our midfield? Last summer his staff were talking about "personnel" changes but nowt happened. It's the same all over the pitch. We are fucking loaded but we are loathe to spend money on younger players. Hughes baulked at an extra million for Ki from Swansea, yet he can play anywhere in midfield and is capable of finding a telling pass(something ours can only dream of). As a write this, the Arsenal highlights are on. Gordon Bennett, let's start afresh this season.

Without a doubt Hughes has had time & money to turn things around but he is incapable. This!!! It´s horrifying what Hughes has made of this team over the whole season. It´s now a bunch of disorientated guys and none of them is able to live up to 60 % of his potential. If the management can´t see that, then "Good night, Stoke City!" HUGHES OUT!!!!!

We were this season under him. If we hadn't have beaten Hull we'd be shitting the final game. we only beat hull coz we brought on Crouchy and Walters FFS who MH stubbornly refuses to start with!!!!!!!!

We were in relegation contention this season it was just our wins were spaced well enough to ensure that we always had enough of a cushion. Unless the direction of the last 18 months is dramatically changed this summer and our window is much more successful than our last 4 windows then we'll struggle next season in my opinion.

So have I but that was in a different scenario when we had far less clout and money and thus has nothing to do with our current environment maybe as I get older I get less stressed at stuff. I know it's poor and needs addressing but long gone are the days of protesting through Stoke town and to be fair banging my head against the brick wall. Just take it as it comes and try and enjoy it for what it is. It's a past time and I'm trying to enjoy it but it is hard at times but I remember the past and shudder at some of the tripe I've seen over the years although it's not brilliant at the moment.
