Although he reverted to the old guard he made two attacking subs when needed. The crowd booed but he got the result we needed, I personally think we looked a better team after the subs as well. All in all I'm a happy potter today. Safe journey home everyone

Just waiting for the "where are the Hughes out crew now!?!" threads to come in. Good victory today, but shambolic season.

I agree. I thought bringing those two on was going to be costly but it worked out well. Well done Mark.

Not disputing anything you've said there, I just think credit where credits due, let's all have a beer and enjoy 3 points. A good win has come few and far between this season so enjoy it while you can like I said, safe journey home all!

We beat Hull, who are fourth from bottom and won 1 away all season.
Good result, not forgetting the last 3/4 games.

He was brave making those subs. No one in the ground would have agreed. Credit to him.
I really aren't sure about hughes. I don't dislike him. Far better manager than pulis. But he has not go the best out of the squad all season

Fair play and deserves credit for a match-winning double substitution. Its one of his big weak points but today he made a positive difference with the subs.

But he has not go the best out of the squad all season perhaps because we have had so many injuries to players coming in and out of the team !!! and ACN!!

even though this looked like the most unthinking, idealess substitution at first glance, moving muniesa into midfield took brains and guts and shapewise we looked better after the sub. fair play hughes. the only problem is that i just cant shake the feeling that it was just another decision he stumbled into, given how shambolic recent tactical manoeuvres/substitutions have been.
also fair play to jon walters who *always* does something genuinely skilful and inventive the moment i think he's finally given up the ghost as a premier league footballer.

Must admit I feared the worst but credit to Hughes he got it spot on. And Muniesa has shown he can operate effectively in midfield.

Yes I was gutted when walters came on but his contribution was superb. Some great skills too and he kicked rannochia in the head.

TBH,it doesn't matter who we played today as we had lost the last 4 on the bounce (regardless how well we played or didn't play in the last 4.) so the players would have felt the heat coming into this game. We had a few 'hairy' moments but that said, I thought we did well, should of been over with in the first 20 minutes but we did the job. It Takes the pressure off a bit for the last few games and hopefully we can have a good finish. Really please for Crouch and Arnie but take a bow Shaq, fantastic goal. Still stuff needs sorting but lets enjoy the result, I'm sure Hughes will.
