That well known bastion of truth and impartiality YAHOO NEWS are running a story that a " Jobsworth" ( their words, not mine ) Policewoman confiscated 27 Daffodils that some bloke and his kids STOLE to give as a Mothers Day gift to their Mum and Nan. Well, firstly, why does this make her a Jobsworth, that is what she is paid to do, it's like calling a Pilot a jobsworth for flying a plane, or a Doctor a jobsworth for treating a patient. Secondly, these were flowers in a park, that did not belong to this bloke, and he is setting an appalling example to his kids in teaching them that it is okay to take what does not belong to them. So , well done to the WPC, and shame on the Father for being a prick, and I hope they prosecute you for theft. uk.yahoo.com/news/police-officer-confiscates-27-daffodils-from-children-who-picked-them-in-public-park-for-mothers-day-123209364.html

If the man gets a criminal record and loses his job, Johnny Taxpayer will have to pick up the tab his family will collect in benefits! And when he does get sacked the state will have taught this blokes kids the valuable lesson that stealing is wrong as opposed to the help yourself message they have been given by their thieving dad and in turn would probably have given to their own kids and so on and so forth. Edit: And why is he stealing them in the first place if he's got a job, why isn't he helping local businesses by spending a few quid.

By the same token, I don't know a single driver who hasn't exceeded the speed limit at least once! By your logic we should criminalise every driver in the country to teach their kids it is dangerous to exceed the speeding limit? But hey ho, the good news is that H.M.Police are on performance related pay for convictions so they're onto a winner using your logic!

Well actually Judge Rinder, or is it Judge Grinder, speeding is not a criminal offence, however theft most certainly is.

But dangerous driving is a criminal offence. How many drivers have exceeded the speeding limit and been dangerous too? Very many! So, my point about mass criminalisation remains valid as does my point about the financial gains H.M. Police have made out of it! Please leave Ange out of this? This is the same Tory who wanted people to vote for a party which a few weeks later slashed education spending in areas like Stoke! You Tories are a permanent embarrassment to yourself!

NJA...How on earth can you bring so many variants into this conversation when the Rain Forests are literally been destroyed, and Panda Bears are virtually being wiped from the face of the planet. And I actually think the Large Hadron Collider is messing with dark magic that I fear that we simply cannot control. And while we are talking about Daffodils, do you think eventually we will have to give up the Falklands, and indeed Gibraltar.

Well, 'shanghai' last year on my private estate on which I have designated responsibility for the gardener, a resident 1. vandalised plants 2. stole plants 3. vandalised even more plants using a strimmer. I reported this to the police and have a Crime Reference Number. But, nothing was done! This gentleman has a criminal record which makes Khalid Massood look like an angel but in deference to your sensitivities I won't mention which of the three services he once served in!

I've lived with this gentleman for about thirty years so we've bumped along together though last year he shouted the most appalling abuse at me in public twice. I wouldn't usually mind but his last effort was strimming a whole bed of flowers we've had for 30 years! Generally, I believe in applying a bit of common sense but sometimes people can push the boundaries too far! Coming back to the daffodils, I think a caution and pointing out if it happened again more serious consequences would follow should have been the best course of action. It would have made the point to his children too!

No, I was arguing against mass criminalisation saying where does it stop? As for the gentleman concerned, last year a neighbour told me he was in 'Her Majesty's Hotel' and to my knowledge they don't allow driving cars in Belmarsh!

Shortly afterwards, a neighbour reported him chasing his missus down the street with a knife in his hand! They divorced shortly afterwards! Recently, there has been disturbances involving his son. I had to smile once as he complained bitterly about a probation order because the bus fares were too high and that he'd preferred prison as the cheaper option! Sometimes, when relatives tell me they enjoy watching 'soaps' on t.v. I reply, I'm living it!

That's what I did with my family as they were at risk where we were living and I was not prepared to see them hurt.
We lost our house as a result but the quality of life after the move improved massively for them.

Yes, I have. And it is still under consideration. However, as I said, we've bumped along all these years so it's nothing out of the ordinary. Fortunately, we used to have a police sergeant who lived in the same block and befriended my neighbour and helped keep him under control. Very sadly, about three years ago, suddenly and unexpectedly, the officer died of bowel cancer.

The very worst that will happen is he will get a ticking off, if that. What a nice chappie you are?! I didn't complain to anyone but a neighbour did report it to the authorities!

The police don't make the laws of this land but have to uphold them. That's their job and well done to this police officer for confiscating them. The father is a knob of the highest order. The police officer gave the confiscated flowers to a care home.
