I will keep this as brief as I can, I took a mate down the brit one freezing cold Tuesday night when we were struggling in the championship, and that night the atmosphere in the boothen was bouncing, it was that good my mate was blown away by the emotion and the noise created, he ended up dropping his love for car racing (he didn't even follow football) and became a loyal supporter of Stoke city and still is to this day! My point is that, in my experience nowadays people do not get the same buzz from the atmosphere anymore which is a shame IMO, it's premier league football and prawn butties that attracts a lot of people now, and the obvious fact that, people are also like Zombies head stuck in their phones rather than watching the game and getting involved from the stands and creating a decent intimidating atmosphere.

I've sat in the South Stand for quite a few seasons now and must say that I've always been quite impressed with the noise coming from the rest of the ground, especially the Boothen. Saturday was quite possibly the quietest this season, despite winning 2-0. I know that the atmosphere has been subdued for a while now but never really expected the Boothen to be so quiet. It was a Boro fan who further pointed this out on the walk back to the car. Thoughts? sorry, I was at a wedding and missed it

The raucous atmosphere we became renowned for after promotion to the PL was not normal.
What we're seeing now is more normal. I can well remember matches at the Vic which were played out in almost complete silence save for the goals.
I think the atmosphere at the Vic is romanticised into being better than it was and those first three or four seasons in the PL were extra ordinary.

The performances were just as shit after we got promoted to the PL. Often much much shitter than they are now. But the atmosphere was rocking. The difference was we as fans knew we had to do our bit to lift the team and bother the opposition. Whereas now the players are so much better they can do it without our noise. That, and we're kind of used to the PL these days, it's nothing special any more. Sad really because I miss the atmosphere and the players would probably perform even better if we did recreate the noise.

I was in my usual seat in the Boothen and I was just about to post how quiet the home side of the South Stand was! The away fans constantly know we're there next to them.

The squad wasn't strong enough to stay up and we had to fight for every point. And the fans played their part. Fast forward almost a decade, and a couple hundred million invested, and we've now got an infinitely stronger set of players. A group which should be capable of so much more. That's one of the reasons the atmosphere has dropped off.

Stoke start attacking and playing in the second half.
Let's have some action down towards the Boothen. The stadium will take off.
I Dare not mention previous management , but how good was it , crowd wise , when we went for it towards the Boothen End in our first few years back in the top Flight
I am more than happy with the current regime but hope that they do not underestimate the power of the crowd and its enthusiasm. Start giving us something to cheer about for 90 plus mins, not 45.

X3 9th finishes and we're still not happy, so don't get behind the team. That's my take on it anyway - thanks for confirming.

Music after goals? I'd rather have aids. The Supporters Council have said we can have both. If we pay an extra tenner...

John you remember the Boothen how it was back in the 1930's though. Ah yes. The good old days when we regularly had 30,000 packed onto the old Boothen End! The days when it took so long to get out of the ground that we stayed there between matches and people were born, schooled, grew up and raised children of their own on the Boothen, before finally leaving in a coffin when death claimed them as they reached their biblical 3 score years and 10! Happy days! And of course, the place you met your wife Monica Hartland.

I never realised how much noise they DO make until I sat there for the game v Bournemouth last season. Good on ya, South Standers.

The atmosphere really has gone that's for sure and the only thing that seems to get the crowd going now is shit officials.I really don't know how we address this and while we're at it another thing that pisses me off even more now is the constant taking of photos/videos even when we fuckin score😡Just enjoy the moment and fuck the phones off😡

I always (apart from once) sit in the QR, and when the noise level from the Boothen is at its loudest it rolls out across the rest of the ground like a huge cloud of sound and is literally AWESOME. Maybe we need a modern-day Zigger Zagger to start it off when it's all gone quiet? It used to be: ZZ: Zigger Zagger, Zigger Zagger Crowd: Stoke Ci-teeeee ZZ: Zigger Zagger, Zigger Zagger, Crowd: Stoke Ci-teeeee ZZ: Zigger Crowd: Stoke ZZ: Zagger Crowd: Stoke ZZ: Zigger Zagger, Zigger Zagger, Crowd: Stoke Ci-teeeee …….followed by a song at full volume.
