ive never really got the reason why they put signs up saying "speed camera's in operation". i know its good for us.
its like being at school, and before a teacher comes in the class room, they stand outside and say. "right, im coming in, in 10 seconds"
they would catch alot more people if they didnt put the sings up. and proberly cut speeding alot, because people wouldent know where they are and would always have to be cautious.

Just tell your mate to pay it. He shouldn't of been speeding.

unfortunately they don't often put the speed limit sign near the camera warning so you often get someone who is confused into slowing down too much - almost as big a hazard at times

they have to put the signs up for the mobile vans its law and normally even when people have seen the signs its 2 late as they have already been clocked he will pay it but he'#s just seeing if he can get of it. dont they pull you over if you've been clocked to tell you?

If the vehicle is parked illegely ie on pavement or grass verge, wether its a cop car or one of those unmarked vans you can challenge the ticket, if you think you were caught (if you see the van its too late they've got you ), stop and take a pic of it and how its parked.

Ask for photographic evidence and for the calibration certificate of the camera in use at the time of the offence. That usually kills it!

They usually cannot provide the calibration certificate which they have to if asked. If they can then I'm afraid you have no option but to pay up.
Write a letter to the issueing office and ask the following questions:
1. Please inform me who the operator of the equipment at the time of the alleged offence was.
2. I would like to see all the current training and procedure certificates for the said officer.
3. Please provide identification of the actual equipment used to record the alleged offence.
4. I would like to see all maintenance and calibration records for the identified equipment.
5. I would like proper documentation that states that all calibration procedures for the actual site have been actioned accordingly and noted by both the equipment operator and traffic car driver.
6. Please identify exact location of equipment used to record alleged offence.
7. Please show that vehicle named, i.e. SK55 PSZ, was isolated in field of view and not `shadowed` by any other vehicle.
8. Please provide copies of actual photos of the alleged offence.
9. Please provide documentation that the site used was totally suitable for this type of equipment and free from any type of contamination.
10. That the site used fulfils any guidelines set down in legislation, i.e. length of site, eight or more injury accidents in preceding three years, etc.
11. That the 85th percentile speed was greater than the ACPO guidelines.
12. I would like a copy of the force’s procedures for the use of radar.
Good Luck

They are supposed to calibrate there guns every week by law, however this is sometimes done once a fortnight, month & they are not 100% acurate. they just rely on joe public paying up without a fuss.
A bit like debt collection companies that write threatening letters but have no actual power, they just use words like "may" "could" etc
There is usually an Ad in the Mail on a Saturday near the back selling a book on loopholes etc.
Good read aswell

Several reasons, one of which I will not say. I now run a fleet of twelve service vehicles and my lads are always getting done. We haven't paid a fine yet!!
