Maybe I'm just playing devil's advocate. But 12 months ago I had more ambition for SCFC than at any other time in my life. Hughes is responsible for this and surpassed all expectations in his mission to transform a club that had TP written through it, for better or worse, for 9 of the past 10 years.
It's gone wrong in the last 12 months and no one is denying that. The hunger has gone and we lack leadership on the field. But who is better positioned to take what we have now and polish it into something better? Hughes should know better than anyone what the problems are (or more specifically who) and has earned another 18 games to start putting it right.

Football is a ruthless business, if we have an A1 manager with a proven track record waiting in the wings to take us to the next level bring it on, thanks for the memories Sparky.
If we don't, and the best alternatives we can come up with are the likes of Chris Coleman, Shaun Dyche and Gary Rowett, then Hughes should carry on and be given the task of getting us out of the rut we're in. He's done it before and there's no reason why he won't do it again. He continues to have my full support.....for the record I find this talk of a crisis absolutely fucking embarrassing

Two or three good signings could transform us, and hopefully Hughesy will come up with them. I can't forget we played some fantastic football for a couple of seasons with him as the manager. Pundits on MOTD were recommending him for jobs with big clubs; we looked that good. He definitely seems to have lost his way, but I'd feel a bit of a twat to completely stick the boot in just yet!

Hughes should have been sacked in the summer. You should have come up with another "comedy" message board persona 18 months ago, shit happens....

Now is not the time to get rid but he needs to start getting some value out of the well remunerated prima donnas that he brought to the club.
Imbula has talent but seems reluctant to use it. Bojan is certainly talented but seems stifled by Hughes' system. Shaqiri seems to think he's too good for little old Stoke. Arnie has looked out of sorts recently. Diouf is neither a prima donna or a wing back. Joselu and Wollscheid will contribute nothing more to Stoke. Most urgently of all we need to get Bony off the wage bill.
If I was Coates I would be very reluctant to give him money to spend this window. If he starts to get a tune out of the team I would reassess in the summer.

Hughes should have been sacked in the summer. I know you like a wind up (or at least I hope you do) but do you fancy giving any reasons?

I'll save my judgement until after the window closes if he doesn't address the issues, he will sack himself anyway

Judge a man when the job is finished at the end of the season for me, not half way through unless the plight has become desperate and at 11th it's hardly that.
This window will tell us a lot more about his ambitions as well as what backing he has as clearly the team are off the rails at the moment.

I'm still supportive of Hughes. Some of the signings don't seem to be working out but others have been fine. See where we're at, at the end of the season.

I'll save my judgement until after the window closes if he doesn't address the issues, he will sack himself anyway Sparky must be the busiest bloke in football. He does all the scouting, identifying the players, negotiating with agents, drawing up the contracts and then going down the cash machine to withdraw the money to pay the fee. No wonder he hasn't time to coach defence. Scholes out.

Don't actually think at the minute there is any other managers that long term could do a better job than Hughes has done. However, I do think his transfer policy is causing his problems now. We are too overstocked with attacking midfielders and his lack of signing defensive minded players. I think we should give him until the end of the season and if it continues in the same vein then look to replace him in the summer

I said on another thread that I still believe that we aren't THAT far away from being something special. Of course there are plenty of issues at the moment but a couple of good signings could make a hell of a difference for us.

We're Stoke City. We win some we lose some. Sometimes we will be brilliant sometimes we will be dogshit. It's the way it's always been whoever has been our manager.
There is no one out there currently who could do a much better job so let's get behind him and see what the rest of the season brings. :-)

If we're not top 10 come summer and a decent alternative comes up then start thinking about it. If Bojan goes it'd better come good without him or the fans will turn badly. No top ten would also likely mean the loss of Arnie, Shaq, Joe, Bojan(if not already), leaving us with no attacking threat at all.
