We were shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of fellow Stoke City supporter Tim Holland, who died of a pulmonary embolism on Christmas Eve. He had been quite ill in the days leading up to this but it was still a massive shock to all of his friends and family.
Despite living in Lytham St. Annes, Tim was a lifelong Stokie and someone who was always behind the team, even during the darkest of days, when our crowds were down at the 7,000-8,000 mark.
He travelled to all games and had made many friends in North Staffordshire. He was also a good friend to us personally and to this fanzine, to which he had subscribed from the very beginning.
Tim was a genuinely good and sincere guy, with a positive outlook and not a bad word to say about anybody. He will be sorely missed.
Tim’s funeral will be held in Lytham on 11th January and a coach will be running from the Little Vic pub in Newcastle.
Our sincere condolences go out to all of Tim’s family and friends. It’s always a tragedy when we lose one of our own but we hope they all appreciate how well respected and liked he was by all those who knew him.

Had heard about him. My old mate was Tim, though I'd not seen him for about 12 years. We had some great home & away days including telling Bally in the dugout at Wigan after 0-4 he had to go! Also had some good days at England, Lancs & Yorks cricket and good nights out in Blackpool and Bradford. RIP Tim.

This is such sad news.
I first met Tim when my brother and I were on our way to Stoke's first game of the 1990/91 season against Rotherham.
We lived in Lytham at that time and, with Tim being local to us, we would often go to matches together - sometimes on the train, sometimes in Tim's car. I have to say that I preferred going by train as it could be a bit hair raising with Tim at the wheel!
We would do the pubs before the games and Tim introduced us to his pals, including Martin, and many a pint was downed. I usually ended up with one almighty hangover after these sessions but it was worth it.
One of my personal favourite away days was at Bury that 1990/91 season when there were Stokies everywhere and I experienced my best ever mental as Mickey Thomas slide in at the back post for Stoke to take the lead - myself and Tim went flying but somehow managed to cling onto each other and enjoy that beautiful feeling of a Stoke goal to it's full extent. Unfortunately, this was the Alan Ball era and the wheels soon came off.
We had many good times following Stoke over the next few years but we drifted apart for one reason or another but we kept in touch and Tim would pop round with Oatcakes and stories of his days out following Stoke.
My last night out with Tim was in 1997 when I bumped into him in a Blackpool nightclub - we were both the worse for wear but we had a great night.
I got married in 1999 and, except for the odd one off chance meeting, I rarely saw Tim thereafter. He came to my mum's funeral in 2010 to pay his respects which was typical of the man such was his nature.
I am sure he has absolutely loved Stoke's return to the top flight and subsequent seasons - he was the long suffering fan who was there through thin and thinner but always kept the faith even in the darkest days.
Tim, I am glad we spent some memorable times together - I won't forget them, ever and I am so sad you've left us far too soon. Rest In Peace my friend.
Simon.

My thoughts and well wishes go out to the whole family......Dying like this is my biggest fear, not that anyone on this forum knows me on a personal level but I suffer from a unknown condition where my blood clots for no reason at all, the goverment don't consider me to be disabled cause my condition has no name, yet doctors consider me to be terminally ill because it has done serious damage to my body however they have said that I could patent my condition if I ever felt the need too...So I really feel for the family and understand the brutal swiftness of it all.....If the family need know anything about clotting or anything related to it I would gladly give them any information I can.....Or if anyone else has problems related to this, again please feel free to message me I have a vast amount of knowledge on the subject after suffering over 10 years with it and spending 2 of those years attached to a drip in hospital.
I will have a drink in the honor of your memory.

Simon, I remember meeting you and your brother (Andy?) at some games. Me and my brother come down from Shipley West Yorkshire and used to meet Tim on train at Manchester. Where do you both live now? My brother who still has a season ticket still met Tim now and again but I only come down sporadically with young son a few times a season. My older son was shocked to hear about Tim as he remembered him when he was a kid.

Such shocking news when we found out on Tuesday. I had the pleasure of sitting next to Tim since the promotion season. He would always be cheerful and we would always have a laugh no matter how poor we sometimes were on the pitch.
Condolences to his family & close friends.
RIP Tim you will be missed by those around you in block 12.

I don't see Andy. I took all my girls to the Swansea game last season and they loved it. So sad that we are speaking under such a cloud as this.
