Since when was a dirty great big crab an 'insect of the sea'. I'll be giving the deep fried grasshopper a wide berth and that goes for the rest of the multi legged menu. They can push the concept as much as they want but I'm out. 😝 I'm definitely with you, Chuff. "....................encourages consumers to stir-fry grasshoppers..............." Yeah, right. NO CHANCE!

Heron Foods remains the go to, bestest spot for Savoury Snacks. After four days intentionally crisp free, swerved in to Heron, broke me resolve. Where else:
Nik Naks multi pack {Scampi & Lemon, tick} Pickled Onion Space Raiders {six pack} Brannigan's Beef & Mustard{six pack} Frisps {Salt & Vinegar yes}.
All cheaper than chips.
But this week's top of the Savoury Snack Chart are Walkers' Barbecue Bugles, a cornucopia, snack horn ideal for scooping Philadelphia, {or Primula at a push.}
Definite Crisp weakness/addiction.

Brannigans beef and mustard. Purchased some only today. Lunch accompaniment tomorrow, I'm reliably informed that they're the business. We shall see. 🥨

Uproar in the Official Snack Chart. Whilst Co-Op have been poncing about shelf re-org.ing, offering Turkey & Stuffing Tortilla Chips, Cranberry Xmas Tree bites, Pigs in Blanket flavour things etc etc, the local Post Office have smashed it with their selection of Happy Shopper 59p, 2 for a Quid 'faux' snack 'grab' bags: Every one a winner in their own right. Mix and match to make more than the sum of their parts and some interesting snack Geometry.
Onion Rings Salt & Vinegar Sticks Cheese Puffs Bacon Bites
in any order, better together.

Crisps and such are my Achilles' Horse, but I'm making a concerted effort to balance shit up. A tangerine, apple, or pear etc after every bag at the mo. As afters if you like.
I figure I'll get bored and drop one or the other soon enough. Willpower will be key.
Or by then they will have introduced proper fruit flavour crisps.

As a gentleman scientist I'm sure Cheeesey is familiar with the mathematics behind the Wall of Crisps, but for the benefit of the remaining ignorant rabble here is an expert explanation:

Latest offering from Sainsbugs. Market Deli Crisps. Flame Grilled Chorizo & Roasted Onions. Very crispy and a bit bland if I'm honest so it's back to the Brannigans beef and mustard for the time being.

I might have mentioned these before, but they are a childhood favourite of mine and a great substitute if you are craving for the real thing - as I am often prone to do!

My dad bless him still gets those from Home Bargains, tried them out of curiosity but don't think I'll be packing any with the sarnies.

A surprise detour into Farm Foods induced a savoury snack attack/crisp cupboard re-stock. Snaps and Wheat Crunchies, and some 'fully flavoured' Golden Wonder Sausage & Tomato, added to the cart along with the usual Nik Naks, Roysters and that. Dropped on a net of chestnuts too. Weekend of near snack nirvana.

Good question, though can't say I was/am a big Worcestershire sauce fan. {Don't mind a splash on Chayze on T, but that's about it. This particular variety pack {from Farm Foods} contains: Cheddar & Onion. Spicy Tomato Smoky Bacon each x2. I can envisage a mix of all three {and some Philadelphia} working quite well. Baco, Cheese, & Tomato. Winning combo.

It's been largely fruit, nuts and the odd Ryvita since xmas.
The crisp hiatus has been broken by the discovery of the wonder of Walkers' newfangled Pulled Pork flavoured crisps. Winner... and somewhat reminiscent of the almost mythical 1970's Bacon & Bean flavoured Rancheros.

Admittedly close to a biscuit, but the savoury flavour swings it.

Feckin awful things with Arthur Lowe on the ads

Ive been eating way too much lately so am attempting Ryvitas for lunch for next few weeks, so will doubtless be chewing my arm off by middle of next week Ooooo - Ryvitas will make your mouth a bit sore inside if you eat too many, Tel. BUT! If you make them up in the morning as a packed lunch and put vinegary cucumber in them (usually with cheese or cream cheese or ham, etc.), by lunchtime the vinegary cucumber will have softened them up so you won't get a sore mouth. But they'll be a bit soggy & won't take long to eat. Swings & roundabouts, Tel. Cream cheese + chopped-up prawns & lemon juice and vinegary cucumber would be nice, apart from the prawns having a psychological connection to Man Ure + Chelski...... American-style egg salad (containing pickled celery) and cress would also be nice. Celery, cucumber and courgettes are VERY low in calories, btw, so you could make a little salad up of sticks of those + carrot sticks and a bit of hummus dip to go with the Ryvitas. A little suggestion or two there for you from the No.1 bestselling book, 'Murph's Cuisines du Monde'. Printed in 62 languages so far. Autographed copies available upon request.

I might have mentioned these before, but they are a childhood favourite of mine and a great substitute if you are craving for the real thing - as I am often prone to do! Never seen or heard of them before, Auntie --- brilliant marketing idea, though! There are some American tiny savoury snack biscuits called 'Goldfish' --- they feature in a storyline in the wonderful TV series 'The West Wing' as in 'CJ loves Goldfish' - and it's how she acquires the goldfish permanently seen in the bowl on her desk.......the news reporter, Danny, who has a serious crush on her, hears someone say 'CJ loves Goldfish' and, not realising that the person is referring to the snack biscuits, buys her the goldfish in a bowl in an attempt to win her over. She explains the difference to him and keeps the fish. Being obsessed with West Wing (I freely admit it) I couldn't rest until I'd got my hands on a packet of the tiny little American bikkies - (thank you, Amazon) - but they don't actually taste of anything very much. It was a great storyline, though.
