Never as prolific as Steino or Sheron but I always liked him. Bojan reminds me of him in terms of stature although Pesch's biggest asset was his pace over the first ten yards. He was in some excellent form before getting injured and losing his place to Sheron and Sturridge in 1995/96. Lou never tried it but those three would've been a nightmare to play against in a 4-3-3 There's no way of telling if he'd have changed that play-off semi final against Leicester but we certainly limited our options by selling him back to Birmingham

Nice one!!
That's EXACTLY the kind of player we are missing now!
Everyone can see it bar the manager LOL
Carruthers shines a bit on it too, still hoping to see his goals up some day, especially keen to see that 4-0 win over West Brom back around that time, I remember Ray Wallace with a beast of a (rare) goal.
I had some of these games mesen once on VHS & DVD and lent them out, never to see them again (You know who you are!!)

Clive Mendonca was our replacement but Lou had a strop with his agent and the deal fell through last minute. £725k was agreed.I was fortunate enough to be in the office that afternoon and was interesting hearing the calls going backwards and forwards and the names Macari was being called by two certain members of staff.

Interesting. Not being sexist but at that time I imagine it was a very much male dominated environment? What was your role as a female?

Pesch was one of my favourite players and it appeared madness to sell him that season. Of course we don't know what goes on behind the scenes and Macari was not the type of manager to be messed with.....but Clive Mendonca was a different type of player to Pesch, more like Sheron if anything so seems a strange one if true

Andy Cole later went to Bristol City. He did sign Keith Scott who was nothing like Peschisolido and John Gayle also.
