Reading some of the posts on here about how Hughes has peaked and we are now spiraling out of control back towards the vale being the number one club in the city. I may be paraphrasing a tiny bit there So the question is to all of the minu Peter Coates out there is who? If you could replace him now who is a genuine replacement who you could see here. Myself im happy with his tenure and arent thinking it but thought i would see how many are and their thoughts.

There's no way Hughes would be let go before the end of the season. He's done well enough the last 3 years to have that much credit in the bank.
Having said that the performances have been shite for the whole of 2016 and the problems with the squad/starting 11 are plain for most to see. If he doesn't get things right by the end of this season he should bloody well resign never-mind get the sack.

It's only fair that if it happens and we get relegated he gets a season to bring us back up. Anything other than that would be hypocritical cuntery surely?

3 months for me. We need to show we have a game plan at least. I want him to succeed desperately but at the minute he's raising more questions than answers. He can do it though, he's shown that in his first season here.

Seem to be at a turning point , he may sort it out but its a worry we have carried last seasons troubles into this season .
Stoke wont risk relegation and once Coates feels he is losing it he will make a decision , hopefully it wont come to that but he has to get his side better organised

God forbid it, but if we did go down no way would Hughes be able to get us back up. We'd have to get a manger who knows how to scrap and defend..then again most fans would rather look pretty and be open whilst rotting in te championship forever more.

It would undoubtedly be an influencing factor if it got Close . So many of the fancied ones are now out of the market for one reason or another allardyce , Moyes , Benitez .so it's not aan obvious default answer . Let's hope it doesn't come to that .

Unconvinced about:
Shaq Imbula Jos Diouf Viable alternatives to Hughes Our medical team
Optimistic about:
Ramadan Sweeney
Convinced about:
Long term stability as a strategy Allen Hughes for the long term once we shake things up after a poor run (possibly consisting of these opening few games). 9th place finishes

Yeah, that Eddie Howe knows how to scrap doesn't he? Let's face it you were devastated that Pulis got sacked and replaced by someone who was immediately more successful. 10 Jon Walters in front of a decent keeper right captain? H

Don't even bring up big Sam,how many fans on here would go mental. They would be saying hes another Pulis, going backwards have a few years they want someone else in who wants to play football. We still argue about Pulis on a daily basis on here, thanks but no thanks. (by the way I'm very happy what Pulis did here, and I'm also happy with Hughes and what he's doing, a few new signings with Butland back and we will be a force again)

Neither am I, not sure we will go 9th 9th 9th either but you never know, football is not an exact science, going on how we ended last season and how we did pre season plus have started this season if I was a betting man I would not have my money on another top ten finish, just going on the evidence at hand now.

Unless i've missed something, Hughes has never been relegated as a manager not that he sees this as any sort of achievement, I mean what sort of dullard would. He prefers instead to concentrate on finishing as high up the table as possible, it's funny really when we spanked Citeh last year people were talking about champions league, lose this year and people are talking about relegation. Hull, Burnley, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Swansea will all finish below us as will many others.

The poster asked for other posters thoughts, I have given mine, do qyou have any ? I don't think for a minute that Coates and Co are going to panic at this early stage. But if we don't get a defender of some standing before the deadline and we look dodgy at Xmas time, someone like Eddie Howe at Bournemouth would be someone I would consider approaching.

Coates will only react if the crowd get on the back of the manager. He's started to back him to the hilt so it would be a big decision for him.
Let's wait until deadline day has passed before we start ordering the incontinence knickers.
We'd need to start competing from now though - harassing the oppo high up the pitch is nowt to do with ability. He needs to get into his players.
