I can't believe we were in for Ki.
I often think football fans can be a bit presumptive in their opinions of other players as they don't actually see them that much but I know for a fact I saw him play quite a bit last season and he was fucking shite.

Mr Biscuit thinks this would be a very good signing said before we need two midfield players given the injuries .
This is a proven premier league player and at 26 had a good 4 years or more at the top in him ..
Can see him and whelan playing together to tighten the ship up a bit as he can hold and do a but more going forwards releasing imbula of some defensive responsibility .
I do agree with the poster who pointed out it shows how we vastly under sold Nzonzi as Allen is also in his last contractual year .
But this would definitely be progress however I'm counting no chickens given Mr Scholes still has to do a showround and completion .

That might well be the theory but in practice ????? Think we need a better balanced squad than we had last season. . Allen's tougher than people are making out, as nutterpotter's stat from earlier in the thread suggests. He's got bags of energy as well. He's got some defensive qualities for sure. Is he as defensively minded as Whelan? Not for me. And for me we should be looking at an upgraded Whelan type to take the baton. In the Wales set up he plays alongside a defensively positioned Ledley. For us he would theoretically be alongside Imbula. I'm not saying it can't work or he's not a decent enough player. He's just not the type that I personally was hoping we would go for. I could be wrong but I could see him regularly starting along side Whelan rather than instead of him. We shall see. |

At Swansea and when he first went to Liverpool he was very disciplined and sat deep, doing a bit of a metronome job. Klopp reinvented him as a bit of a pressing whirlwind. We didnt under sell nzonzi compared too allen allen is trained in nation so is homegrown hence premium |
