What we need is Hughes to issue a statement along the lines of 'I could bring in a coach load of players in tomorrow but they wouldn't be any better than we already have. That used to calm everyone down. I remember when Norwich signed that Ricky Wolfwinkel or whatever he was called, at least 5 members of this board commited suicide immediately with another 200 ringing the samaritans.
Still if we it gives an excuse to have a crack at Carto and Scholes fuck it , why not?

Looks like we did all we can with the allen deal. If he wants to go home fair enough to him. Berahino, maybe I am confused but have we not been outbid? Nees says palace will pay 20 million up front. Ours is 17 million plus add ons so its game over isn't it? Let palace blow that ridiculousamount of money. we should prioritise midfield and wide areas. The real lesson is WE NEED TO START PRODUCING OUR OWN PLAYERS We need to start playing the game at some stage though and bite the bullet and start competing. Why the fuck are Palace blowing us out of the water? Could be that we think that he is worth '17 + 3' whilst Palace think he's worth '20 + 3' - if you reach your best valuation and someone has a higher one, how is it judged to be 'blown out of the water'? Where do you stop? With current money in Prem, most of our rivals can equal us. In all deals, there is a winner - should all the under-bidders berate themselves for being blown?

Do you titsparks really think we'd only just thought about signing Joe Allen about 4 days ago?
The club probably contacted Liverpool, Allen and his agent months ago about the possibility of bringing him here and have been in loose discussion since then. It's just all media span bullshit isn't it?
What article gets more clicks?
- Stoke await response from Joe Allen after months of contact with the player's agent and club - STOKE BID £13 MILLION FOR PREMIER LEAGUE SUPERSTAR! IT COULD EVEN HAPPEN TODAY! WHAT A SHOCKER - Click here to find out who!

We need to start playing the game at some stage though and bite the bullet and start competing. Why the fuck are Palace blowing us out of the water? I'd rather not buy than buy players for the sake of it. Over the past few years some clubs (Newcastle last year, Hull the year before) spent shed loads of cash on players and ended up going down. I'd rather not compete with the likes of Palace in the lets see who can go down with the biggest deficit competition. Palace had a poor end of season and what they're doing looks pretty desperate to me. Our transfer policy looks less spectacular but more considered. I would like to see us bringing players through but that's a longer term aim. If we did that now given where we are with player development we would struggle. Southampton are one of the few teams doing this successfully at the moment and they are at least a decade ahead of us in terms of putting things in place. I think we're definitely moving in the right direction re getting decent quality youngsters in but it'll be another 2-3 seasons before it'll pay off as the cream of the youngsters still seem to be around 17-18. I agree not over spending and interfering too much but we definitely need to make some changes as last season we were sliding very badly towards the end. Mainly due to injuries but it showed that we were weak in certain spots particularly at the back. The best strategy for me is that we buy first 11 players pushing the likes of Whelan, Wolly and possibly Eric to the bench. For me I think it's essential to get in 1) A adequate no.2 to cover for Jack Butland. 2) A CB to play alongside Ryan one who's a leader and a proper defender. 3) A DM upgrade for Whelan as we have no real cover if he gets injured. 4) A pacey winger to cover for Arni and Shaq. 5) A striker with pace and goals in him. I think Mame is fine but I don't think Sparky fancy's him. If we don't with Ireland and Affelay already out we could be in a spot of trouble. So for me it's 3 starters and 2 bench players. I don't think that's too much change. You can never bank on injuries but you can prepare for them. Last season we got caught out. Thankfully we had enough points by the time they really kicked in.

I think people forget that its pretty much a cattle auction for players we have a valuation we set for price and wages and if they want more than we are willibg pay we move on. We have to stick to these budgets otherwise we can be endangering tje clubs future. If you went buy a house would you go over your limit just because some one else did it may be perfect but if you cant afford it you cant do it its economics and as a new rescession looms sensible mangement of this clubs finances is paramount for its future.
Ps of their are no signings by the end of the weekend slap an extra 5mill on the joe allen bid and an extra 20k a week wages its sorted football manager/fifa school of transfer policy wins everytime

Praise be to Percy. " It is understood Allen is keen to work under Hughes, a former Wales international and manager, and Stoke are increasingly confident of completing his signing in the next few days."

Just doing some light googling and from what i can tell Swansea's name actually has nothing to do with Swans, what the hell is that about
How can you trust a city called Swansea that has no links to swans? It's even on their bloody badge but there's no history of a sea of swans or even any swans
I need to let Joe know about this little development does anyone have his number?

On a more sobering note, has anyone heard from Grapey this evening?
Someone had better check his front step for full bottles of milk.

" It is understood Allen is keen to work under Hughes, a former Wales international and manager, and Stoke are increasingly confident of completing his signing in the next few days." It seems the majority of players we sign for big money seem to say that they are keen to work under Hughes. Don't know if it's a bit of propaganda or if he is a real pull for transfers. Certainly does some grafting for us, just look at the Shaqiri deal.

As I mentioned yesterday, Leslie is the man in the middle. I believe Saint Peter and Leslie already met with Joe and his agent either before or after the euros via phone or face to face. The picture of Leslie winking at Lord Allen while shaking his hand says it all really.
