Whilst shopping in Home Bargains this afternoon I noticed an offer of 4 pint cans of Red Stripe lager for £3.49. Being a man of refined taste and a delicate palate plus an eye for a bargain I subsequently purchased said 4 pack. I have to confess it tastes pretty shit but I'm only on my first can and hopefully by the time I crack open the fourth I'll have acquired a taste. However, didn't Stoke have some sort of sponsorship deal with this brand back in the 70's or 80's??

That isn't even close to being cheap, if you want cheap pisswater go to aldi where you can get 20 cans of Carling for a 10er

They did indeed, brewed in the Carribean I believe.(Well originally, probably brewed in Warrington under license now)

It tastes far better ice cold sitting in the shade of a coconut tree on a Caribbean beach - FACT.

Football League rules at the time didn't allow shirt sponsorship, so they didn't have much of a profile.

How different does tramp piss taste to say a Peer of the Realms piss (SWIDT) and how would one know the difference in a blind tasting? These things need to be known

I can certainly remember a regular full page ad for it on the back page of the programme in the 70's. But do you remember Red Stripe CRUCIAL Brew (in the black can but still with the red stripe)? That stuff was bat shit mental ... something like 9% ABV!

Drinking Red Stripe in the Caribbean is like drinking Guinness in Ireland.

I believe that Red Stripe did non shirt sponsorship to several clubs that wore red and white stripes in the late 70's.
I remember buying it at the bar under the Boothen at The Vic.
One love!
