Seeing the post about Steve Evans being sacked is another reminder of how a once huge Premier League club can free fall. It got me thinking... Which teams, at their peak would make it into the top 20 sides to have played in the Premier League and do we make it.... In my opinion, of course we do. My top 20, ranked 1-20. I've also chosen sides on entertainment value, not just success.
1 Utd (sad but true) 2 Arsenal 3 Chelsea 4 Liverpool 5 Spurs 6 Man city 7 Newcastle 8 Leeds 9 Villa 10 West Ham 11 Blackburn 12 Stoke City 13 Southampton 14 Sunderland 15 Bolton 16 Wimbledon 17 QPR 19 Notts Forest 20 Fulham
There's some huge clubs not in there but for me, they are probably the best 20 sides at there peak to have played in the Premier League.

Somewhere today I have seen a list of the amount of TV money each club has earned since the PL was formed. Amazingly, we are comfortably in the top 20 - actually 14th. I'll try to find the link. here it is!

Sheff Wednesday are bigger than Wimbledon, Fulham and QPR As are WBA and Brum And Everton Completely forgot about Everton, they'd have been in. I chose Wimbledon, Fulham and QPR as when I was growing up, they just always seemed to be there and had some interesting players, Vinnie Jones, Trevor Sinclair etc. Some good early PL memories. WBA, Wednesday and Brum probably should be in there but bar missing Everton out by mistake I chose my favourites.

Be interesting to see a table of amount of time/games played in the prem in comparison to money earned.

I've actually found a list based on league position since the PL was formed. Stoke were 30th. I've just listed my fav 20 teams at their peak

Bolton's best side (Kevin Davies, Okocha 2004-06ish era) is better than the best Stoke side.
Southampton would say their best side is better than best Stoke side. As would Blackburn (they won it) and Forest who finished 3rd I think 1 year

We should be in the Top 20 in the first table by the end of this season and then with a few more under our belt (fingers crossed) we will be in the second one as well. Incredible that we are now effectively 24th best Premier League side overall. And one of less than 8 to never be relegated from the Premier League?

One thing I hate about that table is that it is supposed to be an all time Premier League table and yet MK Dons are on it. To elaborate - even MK Dons have now accepted that their "history" (pre setting up shop in Milton Keynes) belongs to AFC Wimbledon.

Damn you all time Prem table.

would find it interesting to compare... In that case I may knock you one up when I'm back from my hols. However, there is one shown on one of the links that is probably about right. Only issue is we come in about 22/23 I think and that would need amending.

A lot of clubs would swap places with us, 9th for 3 seasons some Stokies are never satisfied! No doubt, but this is about an individual best season rather than current position I'd definitely take Everton, Leeds, Leicester, Forest, Blackburn and possibly Southampton's best season over ours
