I have a conflict of interest here. As someone who lived in Plymouth for 28 years I'd be rooting for them against any other opponent. But, I'd be chuffed with a Wimbledon win because it would give them the chance to play in the same division next season as MK Dons who (with the help of a disgraceful "franchise" decision by the FA) consigned the fans of the original Wimbledon to be forced to reform their club and start from the base of the football pyramid. They've done amazingly well to be in with a chance of catching and overtaking MK Dons next season.
I think I'll just have to forget supporting either team and just try to enjoy the game.

Wimbledon win for me, not that I have anything against Plymouth (apart from their goalkeeper) but for Wimbledon to be in with a chance to finish above the MK Dons next season. Now that would be something quite special.

I always have tons of respect for Plymouth's support. They cover such distances in good numbers but never really seem to have a team that fulfills the club's potential. I think they could and should be a Championship outfit.

I think they could and should be a Championship outfit. I agree. When Hull first reached the Premier League (the same year as us) Plymouth became the largest conurbation in England whose football team had NEVER played in the top division. If they ever did reach the Prem they should do well for crowds. As well as being the biggest club by some margin in Devon they are on the border of Cornwall which has no league clubs. Effectively they have a catchment area comprising over 1 million people - plus in the summer months they could attract sizeable numbers of tourists to watch Premier League football. And, of course they could rebuild that main stand which looks so out of place compared to the rest of the stadium! As I said in my first post, I am really unable to make up my mind who to support today. The decision would be very easy against any other club than AFC Wimbledon. I'm just going to enjoy the game and be gutted for whoever loses.

I don't see the conflict given you spent a lot of time in the Plymouth area.
Plymouth have just as much claim to the sympathy vote given how they were almost driven out of existence by unscrupulous owners haven't they?

I don't see the conflict given you spent a lot of time in the Plymouth area. Plymouth have just as much claim to the sympathy vote given how they were almost driven out of existence by unscrupulous owners haven't they? Yes, Plymouth could have well been consigned to the dustbin by previous owners. I would never regard myself as a Plymouth Fan - more a sympathetic observer. But, obviously, I've been to Home Park many times during the time I lived there and many friends and ex colleagues are fans. I think the reason I have as much sympathy for Wimbledon as I do is that not only did they have rotten owners (at the time) but those owners were aided and abetted by the FA who (for no good reason that I can see) decided to throw their own rules out of the window and make an exception for one club. It wasn't as if Milton Keynes was a particularly deserving case. They call it a "new town" but it is almost 50 years old and has a population of 230,000 - much more than many provincial towns and cities who have had Premier League clubs. If all those people hadn't managed to create and support a football team to reach the Football League in 40 years, I never understood why they should be handed one.The fact that AFC Wimbledon will have managed to catch them up (in terms of League position) if they win today, is a measure of the apathy that must have reigned for 40 years in Milton Keynes as far as football is concerned. Anyway, as I said, I will enjoy the game, be pleased for the winner and sad for whoever loses.

Wimbledon.
I have a real soft spot for them because of what they've gone through, and also because they were the first club I completed in my 1996 Merlin Premier League sticker book.

I'm rooting for Plymouth and I'm biased because I live there. Another reason is, let's see another football region prosper instead of London as usual.

Akinfenwa on the bench, hope it's been strenghened!! Shame as I was looking forward to watching him he's quick considering his size, if he could have lost about 4 stone I think he would have played in the prem.

Simple this one.
Has to be Wimbledon. Plymouth dont deserve any success imho.
You have to question a club who would make that goalkeeper their club captain!!! WTF!!!!!

Didn't really care who won until I saw who Pplymouth had in goal.Hope Wimbledon do it now.
On a seperate note it is appalling that he only served 4 years.

I'm surprised the argument about the penalty lasted so long.
The other player must have some balls.
