I can see this dragging on all season long, with Arnie playing out his contract and reviewing his options in the Spring. The main risk for him is that he could get seriously injured causing his value to decline. I take it you haven't bothered to read the last 2 pages of this thread. |

Sky still running with the everton story with their 'sources' from Austria Mate I read the Daily Fail this morning (I know but it was the only paper left in the cafe and I only read the sports section) and there was a massive article on Everton's imminent signing of Arnie, which appears now to be absolute bollocks, and fuck all about either of our actual signings yesterday. I fucking hate that rag. Theyve now changed the story to 'looks like hes staying with an improved 4 year contract' |

Where have those nice Everton fans gone - grand old club, quaint stadium, have sorted out their back office, hoping to get a 61,000 seater stadium by 2040? Delusion and bollocks go hand in hand - Merseysiders should know all about that - they are full of it. Obviously, very painful for them to accept that Joe couldn't be arsed to stay with Liverpool, and Arni couldn't be arsed (when push comes to shove) to entertain everton. I'm not sure the club will want to keep him a year and lose out on a potential 12.5m, wages not included. From the clubs perspective I think we'd likely prefer to sell him than lose him for nothing. We've got Sobhi in and still time to find another winger (Chadli for example) if need be. It's also risky for Arnie to run down his contract. A bad injury or a shit season could scupper his chances of going anywhere. |

Is he signing a new contract then? His brother has agreed with the wages now, just a few small details involving signing on fees, but yeah it looks like it will be all done. Don't know if his bro has flown over to the USA with Allen and Scholes and a few others today or it will be competed when the squad returns from Orlando This is important. Scholes should not delay and strike while the iron is hot. Travelling to the USA would impress on Arni and his brother how important he is to us and we need to get this done and impress any other potential signings that Stoke mean business, To delay sends the wrong signals, allows other clubs to come it, and gives time for a change of mind. If we can get him signed today/tomorrow we should do, not leave matters stewing. |
