Negotiations for what? He's had a decent season, tailed off for the last couple of months, held SCFc to ransom (or hoped to move to a "bigger" club). I think we need to change the terms a little bit more in our favour, if he gets more money, starting with removing any release clause at a cut down price. And seeing as Austria/Ireland played their last game on 22 June it will be a month before they join the rest of the squad and teams that pay their wages, two weeks before the season starts.

Stoke star criticised for attitude, fitness levels also questioned by ex-internationalPlayers like David Alaba and Marko Arnautovic were unable to impose their superiority against the likes of a dedicated Iceland and a surprisingly strong Hungary, and the latter of the two is receiving some criticism back in his home country.Former Austria defender Anton Pfeffer told Servus TV, relayed by Kleine Zeitung: “He played great in qualifying, but during the Euros he gets upset that he has to defend.“I saw him at the Parc des Princes against Portugal, and he was exhausted for about five minutes after sprinting back… For me, that’s unbelievable.”Must have been looking on here?

Alaba was indeed wank (although he was out of position constantly). Arnie gave it a good go. Not rose-tinted, but I feel like the Austria bloke is being a bit unfair

That's utter bollocks of the highest order. I watched Arnie, he played well in flashes, but the reason they lost was they seemed incapable of playing as a team, while their manager seemed completely incapable of actually organizing them, a fact none more evident than in the last game, when he decided that Alaba should sack off his regular position as a left/centre back, and have a crack in the false number 9 Bojan role. Now, while I admit that Alaba is versatile (he's played centre mid for Bayern in the past), to expect a defender to play the false number 9 role is somewhat taking the piss. Arnie showed flashes of total brilliance, but his team mates were poor and easy chances were missed when it mattered. Against Iceland, they utterly dominated, but ultimately, you don't take your chances and you won't win the games.

My impression was Arni didn't get on with his team mates on the pitch. They didn't seem to want to give him the ball much, and reacted negatively when he showed his annoyance at times.

The article is shit, cause it has been denied by several players and other persons responsible from the Austrian Team. I´m still angry with Arni and the rest of our team cause they have played a shit Euro but those comments are nonsense.

Austria were cack because it was clear that their main tactic was to give Alaba the ball & he was awful.

The only thing Austria did all tournament was defend- how is Arnie meant to have a positive influence on the game when they can't keep the ball

I thought their main tactic was run around and hope the ball somehow goes in......... The problem was our manager who wasted (destroyed) Alaba playing him on an offensive position after the injury of Junuzovic. If Koller had realizead that we have with Allesandro Schöpf a very good number 10 (who proved that 2nd half against Iceland) than Austria would have qualified for the last-16-round. The lineup against Iceland (with Fuchs in the midfield or Alaba at a false number 9 ) was the worst lineup i´ve ever seen.

If Arnie loves this club, the fans, and what we have done to rebuild his career (As he said in that interview on BBC Radio Stoke post West Ham) then he would sign the contract. Fact is he won't. He wants to better himself and that's going to be the case with players like Bojan, Butland, Shaqiri, eventually we have just come to terms with them leaving I really hope to God I am wrong (Bojan + Butland has proved me wrong already with them signing an extension which is brilliant) so I hope Arnie signs but I cannot see it happening!

Have I missed something? Why would he go to Zagreb? Somebody tweeted the picture is Arnie meeting someone from Zagreb. Its on the Summer transfer thread. Just usual silly season make up a rumour as nothing else happening bollox. Really don't see a move to Zagreb as a step forward in his career.
