Must be getting warmer, bumble bee the size of a sparrow flitting around the hedgerow at work today, checking out the new blossom. Same here they've been around all week. The blossom is really starting to well....blossom.

Finally got to see the daffodils in York yesterday. Positively barmy weather getting up to 20 degrees in the car at one stage. Got to see everything the kids stopped me from seeing when we were there 5 years ago and managed to avoid Game, Game Station, Superdry, Hollister and the like
Had a very pleasant walk around the grounds of Saltmarshe Hall and the river Ouse. Very impressive.

Three buzzards wheeling in front of a daylight moon earlier.
In future I may note that this is a foreboding sign.
A Ground Elder Dressing with Duck was nice. No claret with it though.

I had a wank the other day with the window open and I could hear the birds tweeting as I furiously tugged at my todger, it was lovely.

Today it's the Long-tailed tit (Aegithalos caudatus)They say: Distinctive, undulating, gregarious, and a lover of small and excitable flocks, the Long-tailed tit is, as a matter of fact, one of the smallest garden birds in the UK. If not for its extensively long tail, the most characteristic part of the bird, it would be tiny and measure just 6cm in length. The Long-tailed tit is somewhat fluffy in appearance, almost adorable (a “tiny ball of fluff,”) and features a short, stubby bill. There’s very little difference between males and females, both of which develop plumages of mainly black and white with clear gradations of grey and pink. Many times people have observed with an “aw, isn’t that cute” after spotting a Long-tailed tit roaming casually around. voice.gardenbird.co.uk/all-about-the-long-tailed-tit/?utm_source=GardenBird+%28Main%29&utm_campaign
I wish I could post a pic. I'll try in a min.........

Saw an hedgehog safely cross the road late last night. First one I've seen in ages.

Been surveying about a mile away from the Tan Hill Inn (of Ted Moult fame) all day - clear as a bell in Swaledale but f***ing freezing on the tops. Loads of oyster-catchers about - I see them up there quite a lot.
Almost forgot about me trip to Burnley last night.

I disturbed a weasel this morning in the act of catching a rabbit. I heard the racket as I turned a corner on the field and the weasel chased the rabbit, saw me and dived into a clump of turnips so I was able to move him on to have a good look at him. Thankfully the dog was 20 to 30 yards behind me.

I got within 20 feet of a fox tonight on Cow Lane. Trying to get at something in the brambles presumably a rabbit.

Thinking about it, was it after one of your discarded cans? The bottom end of Cow Lane by the canal is generally litter free. It wouldn't have been one of my cans.... I don't partake of fizzy drinks or carry anything that would slow me down

Wild garlic update: they're starting to flower.
A little bit of rain and some warm sunshine and they'll be giving off that potent smell.

There were two collared doves sharing the covered bird table this morning with a jackdaw. Normally it's one or the other but perhaps peace has broken out.

I like jackdaws, like monkeys with wings how they operate. Had to eradicate an old nest from out of the chimney, like a bale of straw. How they flew down the pot onto the ledge astounded me. Is that why they're black. I saw one drop something by my back door once. A torn weathered part of a playing card. Half a joker. True.

Think jackdaws are essentially pragmatic. They certainly chatter a lot! Or more like 'chacker, chacker, chacker......' Blessed/cursed with a troop or two around me. Annoying early morning but I love their raucous calls and kerfuffle come roosting time. They're like a winged refuse service. Mop up the food debris etc. Corvids are fascinating. I've known a few people who've had them as 'pets'. The best was a semi wild one, lived outdoors but went shopping {with the 'owner'}.
