Well I was down the bottom of a friend's garden in Trentham yesterday admiring the Longton Brook when a largish Crayfish appeared from under a rock. Probably one of those yank invaders

Probably one of those yank invaders Nasty bastards they are. I thought this was the sweet and fluffy thread. I first opened it and saw a comment by Harryburrows which simply said “FUCK OFF” and now this outburst! I despair sometimes😉

Working at an old farm near Alstonefield on Monday and had a kestrel for company much of the morning. Managed to pinch half an hour on a bench in Longnor late afternoon and haven't been happier in months.

Spotted a hedgehog on the lawn the other night hopefully feasting on the many slugs that have appeared of late. I was sitting down with a retired farmer friend on Saturday and he's telling me they're back because of the badger culls

Well after distracting Gnasher Mark 2 away from the resident Hares for several months now he virtually stood on one this morning. He put a very impressive 200 metre sprint in before it disappeared into the adjoining cornfield, bless him

Out running this morning and spotted a huge flock of lapwings at rest on local farmland - a good 2 or 3 weeks earlier than my first sighting of a flock up here last year.

It's looking wonderful out there at the moment with the Daffs coming out to add to the Snowdrops, Crocus and Helleborus and the first blossom fall of the year beginning to spray the pathways. Lovely long walk in the sunshine today

Lovely long walk in the sunshine today Saw plenty of Blackthorn blossom out earlier in between Solihull and Stevenage

View AttachmentYes, I could have worded that a bit better . Cool up here this morning but the quality of daylight has definitely changed from Winter light to Spring light now. Blackthorn blossom about too.

I love this time of the year getting the garden back into shape after the winter. I'm used to Robins and Wagtails following me around during the lawnmowing but I've now acquired a pheasant who seems happy to get as close as 8/10 feet away. He's been venturing to the back of the house to get food along with a couple of his floozies I also saw some wonderful acrobatics from a squirrel yesterday on the feeder.

Going back to the car in Heron Cross after the match last Saturday in that lovely period between sunshine and showers a Blackbird was giving it everything, one of the finest sounds in nature.
I've just been reminded listening to the radio, one of Attenborough's sound engineers has just released an album of his favourite sounds in the natural world and started by talking about the Blackbird.
