For a marvellous moment in a musical hiatus between C86 and the full Rave breakout it seemed punk was about to break out again, momentarily. Sid Presley.. {Godfathers were good but never quite lived up to this, for me. Treasured 12" Ace.
Saw a later Can, 'Night & Day' fab, not quite like this though...

Smiths did three instrumentals as far as I know..
Interesting the Moz didn't lyricize over them, but the Fez crooned over this.. Cheeky Marr moonlight...

I always thought this was a bit meh when I was growing up but Nick Beggs on bass here is absolutely insane! See the new bass guitar thread. You'll get extra marks if you throw in a reference to a Chapman Stick (ITK)

Found this weirdly wonderful Interesting, I've been listening to No Man a lot lately {on vinyl part of a recent random pull of LP's to re listen to}, early 90's arty outfit, a duo who collaborated with the musicians from Japan {the band}, and Fripp .. Atmospheric stuff. I hadn't heard any of their solo stuff... Wilson was one half of the duo. You've set me up for some youtube rabbit holing Cheers.. Posted a No Man track above..

The Sound. What an amazing band - imagine Joy Division on a bright day meeting The Pixies. Absolutely fantastic.

The greatest thrash metal (and metal) album I own and maybe the best ever. At their peak.

cheeesfreeex thanks didn’t know about the No Man duo, I’ll have a listen Wilson also lead singer with Porcupine Tree I hadn't made the Porcupine Tree connection... though I have been vaguely aware of their name over the years and got sucked in a little with the furore {mini} ree the release of PT/CT or whatnot last year.. I read reviews and dipped in.. I love the explosive 'culling', really like the instrumentation but for me Wilson's voice lacks the complimentary dynamic, I couldn't fully get engrossed in them as a result... I think the track you shared is the highlight... too too vast a back catalogue for me to ever make a start on that... I did keep an eye on the other half of No Man, Bowness's moves over the years... no idea what the falling out was/back story but shame Bowman doesn't do the odd Porc Tree vocal.. more of a range/character to his warblings for me.. cheeers.. And I reckon this track'd fit right in on PT/TC too..

Should've posted this sunday, yesterday but me Cup overfloweth and I was too busy and giddy getting lost in it to post it..
Candidate's 'lost' classic. What could have been a pretentious conceit spawned {perhaps in its naievity} a pastoral masterpiece. 'Wickeman infused, homage to the mood rather than pastiche imo.. Catchy harmonic hooks echoes of fragments of {half familiar} tunes. A very English/Brit Midlake, ahead of time.. Features the fabulous Bert Jansch too.. The marvellous 'Nuada'. 21 this year.
Singing and Dancing on a Sunday; the making of..

Never really herd em (porcupine tree) but use to go out in stone and the taxi driver we used always played a cd called music for coffee shops to pacify passengers, on there was porcupine tree amongst loads of other great tracks. Kinda led me indirectly to amorphous andronemous.
