Sure I read somewhere if someone from the coach party doesn't tell the police they are going to a match the police are well within their rights to turn it away.

I've emailed the link to Malcolm. I don't even know if he is in the country at the moment. Hopefully some Wrexham fans will have already contacted the FSF.

We have several non club organised coaches going to away games - do they always advise the police in advance of their travel plans? I'd love to know under what law the police can turn coaches away unless they have some positive intelligence suggesting that there may be trouble.

Hopefully this will be #2 in Malcolm's in-tray behind trying to get to the bottom of why the nation is silently suffering an Easter bereft of football!

Those fans on the bus were obviously bereft of football but there have been league 1 & 2 games over the last few days. Or don't you look beyond the premier league now?

I'd love to know under what law the police can turn coaches away unless they have some positive intelligence suggesting that there may be trouble. Stoke pub coaches can probably get away with it, saying police expect 15 coaches turn up and 17 turn up they probably won't know who to turn away. With smaller followings though if police are expecting 3 coaches and 4 turn up they can spot the rogue coach easily.

Totally out of order in my opinion.
This is not a police state. On what grounds do they have the right to detain or obstruct law abiding citizens to go where they wish within the law. ?
I have attended many games away over the years, and have to say that Policing in general is quite good, but over the top actions like this should not be accepted or tolerated, or else we will all end up being herded and treated like sheep again and return to the dark days of yesteryear.
Rant over.

I love this:- "There were reports on social media that names and addresses of fans on the bus were taken by officers, but no one could be reached at Humberside Police."

Our caseworker is already on the case and taking legal advice A great case for Breakfast TV if the facts are correct ( I know there are always two sides to a story.). Teams like Wrexham & Grimsby, with the greatest respect, are not the normal headline grabbers and would be an ideal opportunity to demonstrate that you represent ALL football supporters. Keep up the good work.

My daughter and I got our footy fix by going with Nello as guest of Cambridge to to the Varsity match at Fulham and then watching the boat races go past at the back. Neil gave us his usual supply of amusing moments. He just added himself to the end of presentation party so that when the teams came up to collect their medals etc they shook hands with him at the end of the line and all got a "well played" from him. Not sure who they thought he was The game was reffed by Martin Atkinson. In the lounge afterwards, Neil was telling Martin how he has scored 16 penalties out of 16 this season When he asked Martin for his autograph Martin said (correctly) that he should be asking Neil for his, not the other way round. As an aside, Martin said how sorry he was to hear about Andy Wilkinson having to retire and what a lovely lad he is. Interesting, because you might not have thought that Wilko would be particularly popular with refs. given his style of play.

Yeah he goes in for crunching tackles but he won't try to con you or make your life hard with some of the bollocks most players do like rolling around. It must be a right refreshing change to know you're reffing someone who is honest.
