In terms of success
Waddo McGrory Pulis Hughes
If Leslie wins a cup or gets us into Europe on league position, he jumps two places - in terms of football he already has to be second to Waddo (but in terms of maddening inconsistency too!).

Pulis, pulis, pulis, and pulis. Watching the game tonight reminds me of how great it was to watch the mighty potters under TP. Just when you thought it'd go tits up, we got lucky The lucky general. Hughes isn't lucky he should go!

Waddo Lou Durban Pulis I prefer Hughes to Pulis, but I'll judge him after he's been here longer, or if he wins something, or if we score from a corner, in which case he moves up to 4th.

In my lifetime
1. Waddo
2. Pulis
3, Macari
4, Durban
All had great periods and achieved from a position where the team was really struggling when they came in .

I know little of McGrory but I can read that he played 500 matches for Stoke over 14 years and managed the club for 17 years.
He led the Potters in to the final match of the 46/47 season against Sheffield United knowing that a victory would give Stoke the title. We lost the match 2-1.
But that is the TITLE, the league frigging TITLE!!!
On that basis my order is:
1. McGrory 2. Waddington 3. Pulis 4. Durban
Honourable mention to Macari for rescuing us in our darkest hour and Mark Hughes who could well yet break the top 4.

Only been going since 1990 so from there
1. Mark Hughes - seeing some of the fantastic football played by the team he has put together just leaves u standing there wondering if this is real.
2. Tony Pulis - I am not sure if any other manager would have got us to & kept us in the premier league. Yes it wasn't pretty at times but his teams also played some great stuff too, Etherington, Pennant, Beattie, Shawcross. Whatever happens I am eternally grateful to this man for putting us where we are now. My sons first memories of football will be us playing Liverpool, Manchester Utd and the Europa league adventure. My first real experiences were Rotherham, Wigan Telford and Torquay
3. Lou macari - probably a personal favourite time for watching the Potters. Young free and stupid meant that I went to just about every game in the 92/93 season home & away. Yes the opposition was worse but from a game experience it was a great couple of years.
4. Struggling now so I'll plump for Gudjon. Difficult times with the power struggles but brought us more silverware/ promotion.

Since I've been going.
1.Mark Hughes. 2.Lou Macari. 3.Gudjohn Thordarson. 4.Mick Mills.
Least favourite
1.Tony Pulis. 2.Alan Durban. 3.Joe Jordan. 4.Richie Barker.
I'm torn between 1&2 on my favorite's probably enjoyed the Macari era more being younger but Hughes has bought the best football.
I did see Waddo's team play but was too young to understand much more than what the score was so don't offer my opinion.

Most of us who were there at the time seem to have enjoyed that period more intensely than any other. I know I did. Great days.

Top 4 in terms of enjoying my time as a supporter.
Waddo. Greatest ever times under the maestro. Lou. Without doubt he provided the most fun and it was fabulous to be a supporter when he was here. Hughes. I'm actually excited about my football since he arrived. Pulis. Being as I'm a confirmed PHW, that sticks in my craw, but he did provide the promotion season; those first two fabulous backs-to-the-wall seasons back in the top flight, plus the Wembley season. The rest was mind blowingly numb stuff, as bad as Joe Jordan at his worst.
OS.

Bob McGrory was only able to compete in two competitions, the league and F.A. Cup, the others had four competitions they could be involved in, plus football was suspended during the war years when Stoke had some of their greatest players in their peak years.
I always think the league is the ultimate test of managers so I see it as follows:
Bob McGrory Tony Waddington Mark Hughes Tony Pulis.
