I have no idea how good he is but it is a shock to see us shell out 18m. Its quite a statement of our ambition. But someone please tell me how a defensive midfielder is going to solve our lack of goals? Potternation I would expect us to move through the midfield more quickly as this guy seems to like bursting forward with ball which should create more space, rather than the laboured sidewards passing we have seen this season. This. Look how good we were against Liverpool when nzonzi broke forward at Pace.

Football is a squad game, this signing has strengthened us no end. We now have the option of pushing Afellay further forward and putting Bojan up top Afellay is also free to cover the wings in emergency Imbula makes our midfield stronger We've freed up Geoff to help provide cover for the CBs. £18m is a lot, let's give the club some credit instead of knocking everything. Spot on mate, best post on this thread.

Im seeing us moving back to the 4-3-3 with Imbula Johnson ----- Cameron ------- Muniesa -------- Pieters --------Affelay--------Whelan---------Imbula---------- ------Shaqiri----------Bojan----------Arnie------------ You'd drop Wooly after all his recent performances?

Wow -that little surge of acceleration he's got! I know anyone looks good on video compilations but, physically, at times he seems like a 17-year-old playing in a Ladsandads league.

Either my radio or my ears are shite, as it sounded like we'd signed Natalie Imbruglia actually - I'd love to see her at stoke ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

What happens to him now then, does he fly back home to get his suitcase?
This has always interested me what in what they do when they move to a foreign country, does he live in a hotel for 6 month as a foreign speaker without any translation or rent a posh pad out?
I'd expect him to be sub for the firstvfew games until he has settled, can't see him being straight in the starting eleven?

He looks left footed as well. He is. He's got an absolute rocket of a shot too, apparently. I've only seen him play once or twice but, he's highly rated and a lot of people should be genuinely excited about seeing him play tbh. I am anyway. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/kwfoKwtHI0jglJZ4qZf6.gif)

He does look solid and fast going forward and he also does his defensive tracking back work well, looking forward to seeing him play

Well done these two for "scouting" Imbula even before we played Porto (Imbula was number 8 in the tournament): That number 8 in midfield looks decent, hopefully this lot wont be playing us tomorrow Have porto put out a strong side? Just hope their number 8 isn't playing because he looked bloody dangerous ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

Andy Brassell a bit of a World Football expert is giving his view on Imbula on Hawksbee & Jacobs on Talksport this afternoon. Not sure what time but he normally knows his stuff.
This was his tweet last night. Might be interesting.

A lot of clubs hire someone to become the players "friend" when they first move over. That person rents a house for them, arranges everything for them to do and helps them with english lessons. However, stoke seem to just sign shit version of players like edu for geoff. Wonder what we'll do with imbula?

Nzonzi cost £3 million and had premier league experience. At £18m I doubt he's going to be 6 times better than Nzonzi. It's a big risk for a club like ours. Nzonzi had only 12 month left of the contract when we sold him for £ 7 mill. If he had 4-5 years left of the contract like Imbula, you could have doubled that to £ 14 mill......and if Nzonzi was young like Imbula you could have added a few more millions pounds on that. I don`t know how many months Nzonzi had left in his contract when we bought him for £ 3 mill, but I think he did`t have long time left. An other thing is that Stoke and most of the Premier League clubs have almost doubled their incomes since that time. Transfer fees has also almost doubled.

Wonder what we'll do with imbula? not sure but I can see why we signed edu as geoff would of been the only american speaker in the squad, joking aside Imbula though no idea because if you put me in france I would'nt know how to get by without google translate and that's when english is understood a lot by foreign people. We (english) on the whole are shocking when it comes to using a foreign language, we hav'nt got a clue, we struggle with our own, so it must be difficult coming here as a foreigner. He probably knows a bit, foreigners tend too

Can't see Coates having anything to do with 3rd Party ownership, so maybe previously but I am sure that has been completely cleared up he will be our player with no dingleberries clinging on!
