Being from the times when Stoke were not good I find it hard to accept when other Stoke fans are confident of victory, especially against one of the top clubs (if not teams) in the UK. Reading the Liverpool supporter questionnaire makes me think we are becoming a little bit too big time a little bit too soon.
I do believe that the attitude of 'Little old Stoke' vs 'Generic big club' - the David versus Goliath served us very very well on the terraces for many years. We always gave backing second to none when it really mattered.
Tonight will be a true test of all Stoke fans, and how far we have come as a club. We are now on a very similar level to Liverpool and I hope and pray the fans don't just turn up and expect a good result. We cant allow ourselves to fall into the same category of those other clubs and fans that nearly made it. Lets keep the passion, keep the smaller club mentality and show every fan of every other club in the watching world what Stoke is about. WHATEVER happens on the pitch, lets come away from the stadium with bad throats and light heads, 90 minutes of pure noise and anger..... because with our help our time may be coming..... Let's all make it now.

We are a smaller club and Liverpool should be expecting to win this game.
However, recent form and performances make this an even looking match up.
I fancy our chances, but there's nothing complacent about that.

I'm never complacent when it comes to Stoke, I guess I've been around too long.
I stood in the concourse at Wembley during the semi final, while others were wildly celebrating at being 3-0 up I couldn't help thinking we could still blow it !
I do fancy our chances in this tie but even if we win 3-0 tonight I'll still be thinking the worst will happen.
Old habits die hard...

I agree, however on the night as a mass of support we can sometimes not turn up for the big occasions, as if we are waiting to be entertained - and the away support gets all the credit for the atmosphere (such as against Sheffield Wednesday).
I am just hoping for a night to remember........

Not so long ago, we played Newcastle in a cup game and a draw was a good result (in truth we should have won). It wasn't massively disappointing when we lost the replay. Tonight, I will be genuinely disappointed if we lose - against a bigger club than Newcastle.
We have earned our right to be in the semi final of a cup, to be in touching distance of the 'elite' in England and to have a team full of internationals. Personally I don't like the 'little Stoke' tag any more, and like to think that we have outgrown it. Let's beat Liverpool because we are better than them, not because we have some inferiority complex that gives us an advantage in the stands. We can be passionate without being 'little Stoke', can't we?

I get where you're coming from entirely mate. I was speaking on behalf of myself. I'm not one of those who after 2 consecutive wins thinks we should be beating every team around or below us in the table. Here's to a good night. Hopefully the support will be good as I expect it will be.

I am going to be doing my drunk at a bus stop impression as I usually do, shouting at anything given against us, hopefully not on my own as I usually am. Hope the concourse atmosphere carries over onto the terraces because it WILL make a huge difference............

There's a difference between complacency and raised expectations. Expectations should be higher now from the players, the management AND the fans. Because - all credit to everyone - after half a season we are in striking distance of making history. Both in the cup and with another potential highest league finish for generations.
The fans that have been through the darker days should appreciate this all the more and not allow past disappointments to ruin their enjoyment now. We are riding a wave of success right now and it hasn't broken yet. Enjoy the view and believe.

The news that Sturridge won't feature, Skrtl is still injured is a boost in theory
I agree that we should concentrate on our own performance, we seem to play better as an underdog.
Being confident is slightly different to being complacent - we need to take charge of the game and cause them problems, however we set up

Does it matter if some fans are complacent? No more than it matters whether I wear my "lucky" red socks or underpants tonight! If the players or the manager are too complacent then that is another matter. The important thing for the fans is, surely, to get behind the team and support the team vocally until the final whistle has gone in both the home and away legs. As a point of information though, I WILL be wearing both lucky socks and underpants tonight so I doubt we have anything to worry about!

You are not only knicking Pulis' phrases but you are exhibiting advanced symptoms of the disabling expectation limiting disease he spreads I'm currently surrounded at work by a number of Liverpool supporters who are fearing the worst and that is the way I like it!

Last match of last season and first match of this season, enough said. Personally, I am like some have said, I only relaxed in the Bolton Semi at 5-0 up, well when I say relaxed, I mean just sitting there in a state of shocked euphoria! Anyway, I am convinced we will have a disappointing result tonight and will win it at Anfield ala Cardiff in the play offs!

I'll be disappointed if, with just 180 minutes of football to play standing between Stoke City and a League Cup final, we don't turn up and give Liverpool a damn good game and make our intentions obvious. We saw Pulis shit himself in the Europa League and throw the Valencia game away before a ball had even been kicked for whatever reason he felt stronly enough about to mugg off our hopeful traveling supporters. Then we failed to beat Man Citeh who put in what was a pretty average performance on the day at Wembley - We simply didn't really turn up for the FA Cup final when a stronger than average performance most probably would have won us the bloody cup. It's time for Stoke City to make their mark and start capitalizing on these golden opportunities to achieve success. Tonight's the night to start doing just that and draw first blood in this Semi Final. Goooaaarrrn Stoke !!

The simple truth is.......at this moment, Stoke City are every bit the equal of this Liverpool team. A high percentage of our players would get in their team and, unlike years gone by, there is nothing to FEAR about Liverpool.
That's not complacent at all and Liverpool will be afforded every respect, as all clubs should be, by all involved in tonight's game.
There's no complacency about this fixture where Stoke are concerned but there IS CONFIDENCE in our own team's ability to beat them......
Quite right too.
The alternative would REALLY be worrying.

How times have changed for us Stokies. I remember when we first got into the Prem. For me it was a time of trepadation. I used to start getting worried on the Monday before the following Saturday. Friday I was impossible to live with. If the cat looked at me funny it was threatened with a trip to the vets. Now though, I'm disappointed if we don't get some sort of result against anyone but I do feel that we are too complacent in certain matches where we should be taking 3 points.
