Can you remember the first Stoke City goal you watched live in the ground and who was the goalscorer? Mine was Denis Smith in 1978 at home against Cardiff in a 2-0 win,i was 8 at the time and the thing i remember the most was the noise of the crowd when Stoke scored.

I think mine was Phil Heath in 1983 in a league game vs Everton. We drew 1-1, the one where Inchy Heath was bouncing around in front of the Boothen End after scoring for Everton. Not his finest moment.
Had to edit that because the FA Cup game was the week before and we lost 2-0.
'Adrian little brother Phillip' as he was known during the 80's. The press just couldn't get past that.

September 28th 1991 vs Stockport at the Vic. Bertie scored both, one header & a penalty. Ended 2-2 although we were 2-0 up !! How those 24 years have flown by.

Roy Vernon, December 1965, in a 3-2 win against Fulham. I was at the back of the Boothen end and by the end of the match you couldn't see the Stoke end because of the fog

Terry Conroy in a 3-0 canter v Chelsea at the Vic in 1975. It was near the end of the season and at that stage we still had a chance of being Division One champions. I was 11 and was hooked from that point onwards. My next game was the goalless draw against Newcastle which I think was the last home game of that season. I remember being amazed how Newcastle fans filled the Stoke End..I didn't realise at the time that most of em lived in Bentilee

I have two sets of matches, pre-Ajax, then Ajax and beyond. I went with my dad to a number of matches from when I was about 6, but sadly can't remember a bleedin' thing about them. I got the bug full-on aged 10 when we played Ajax, so although it wasn't the first Stoke goal I ever saw, Denis' equaliser was my first 'officially supporting Stoke' goal.

Dave Bamber.
It was at the Manor Ground in a 3-2 loss to Oxford Utd. Tony Henry scored the second. All I really remember was that Peter Fox had a moustache, which surprised me for some reason (I was 8).

Gareth Evans, October 1990. Ah the thumping diving header at Burnden Park! And a brilliant Delilah from TJ on the floodlight pylon after the game!

Big Bren v Forest in 1979. They were European Champions then and i remember Trevor Francis ripping us down the wing. We got a 1-1 draw though.

Brillant day out, goal from nowhere. From memory it was a poor game until that header. We were kept in after the final whistle and TJ up the pylon was brillant in leading us into a very loud Delilah, one of the 1st i remember.

Wasn't the TJ incident after the May'93 game when we lost, were Champions and by losing Bolton got promoted at the expense of the Vale? Seem to remember the old bill didn't give a shit that night.

Floodlight pylons. Remember them? Not these modern things on sticks, proper electricity pylon jobs! Bulbs shining in all directions. And do you remember the Vale having the lamps shaped in a V on theirs?
Sorry, gone off topic now.
