I'm amazed there isn't more positivity on this thread after tonight's game.
WE HAVE JUST MADE IT TO A LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINAL.
Are we starting to take things for granted?

Tonight proved what a decent & efficient side we are. We just reached a major cup competition semi final by beating a side that thumped Arsenal 3-0 and are 2 games away from another final at Wembley. What a great feeling. These really are good times for us Stokies.

(Certain) posters are busy preparing their bile ready for the next defeat. Next time we lose the same old hysterical posturing will emerge. Some of us need to learn an old adage, so old it is almost infantile..... you can't win em all. And that's that.

Paul, yes some don't rate the Cup competitions, which is why even a few finals had lower tier clubs in them.
No longer! And no coincidence that the final four this season are all Premier Leaguers and wonderful that we have beaten all five of those remaining, in the last season.
Bring 'em on!

I think the excitement came in the last round with the effort and character shown v Chelsea , last night was getting the job done against a poor side whoever they may have had results against in previous rounds they did not turn up last night .
Now the fun really starts in a semi final that will test us whoever it is against , hopefully we can knuckle down in training improve our final ball and create a few more chances over the Christmas period and push on into an exiting second half to the season .
In an age of money madness in football we have an organised well run club that is always looking to improve and that is a great thing despite the sickness of the modern game and our overhyped overrated league

Four remaining, unless we've beaten ourselves I'm bloody beaming! Big smile on my face today and any semi-final in a cup competition is an achievement. Hopefully we'll get through and have another day at Wem-ber-ley!

The one I want is the F.A. Cup, but I'll settle for this one now, and carry on waiting for the other. Can we win two cups in one season?

You'd have to think this is potentially about as good as it gets for a club like us.
We are established in the top flight, packing the ground out, playing good stuff and a genuine threat in the cups.
Immense credit to all involved but principally MH and team, and Peter and family. PC for obvious reasons.....MH because building on what he inherited (in some cases fixing problems) was a massive job that he has managed amazingly well.
I think it's fair to say we have one of the best managers (and back room staff) in the country at the helm. If he stays for the next five years we could see our trophy cabinet needing an extension.

I am usually quite positive, but I was singularly unimpressed with our performance. The result is clearly what counts, and nobody had a poor game, but did nobody else think that we were very one paced and passed the ball sideways more often than not? The build up play was so slow at times that we never really threatened to score a second goal from open play ( G Cam's ball to Joselu being a notable exception). Last night highlighted why we are struggling to score goals - little invention if we are honest and a marked reluctance to shoot (other than PB's free kick). Of course if we progress to the final courtesy of a 0-0 and 1-0 semi final result, I won't give a monkeys, but I can't help thinking that if someone scores first, we don't look like a team than can score 2 -certainly not in open play.
