Is that Abdoulaye Faye on the ground there? Yep it's Abdy, I think he even blocked it, the season we got promoted. Still don't know how Parkin didn't score though. Wasn't it in the fa cup. |

I seem to remember a couple of years ago, he was selling "one to one training sessions" on YouTube for about £100 an hour. Certainly a fall from grace. Absolutely fantastic goalkeeper in his day. Not the Southall we had though, was well past his best and far too overweight really.

Always remember that last game of the season.
First ever season at the Brit ! When we lost 5-2 to Man City and we both went down.
Remember the players doing some kind of lap of honour at the end.
I say some kind as the atmosphere wasn't to great.
Nev came into ear shot of us and I remember some guy shouting FUCK OFF YOU FAT BASTARD. Nevs face was a picture :-)

Yep it was the 3rd round, the season we got promotion Who'd have guessed back then that Faye would soon be guiding our young Ryan to greatness ? He was instrumental in Ryan's education as a top class defender. |

The truth is, our club WAS a poor joke when he was here and he was simply saying it as he saw it back then. As many have said, he was a quite brilliant keeper at his best and he came to Stoke a good many miles past his best. Jesus though, Nev, you need to shed a few pounds old mate........that just doesn't look too healthy at all. |

To be fair, we shouldn't be shocked to see ex footballers have piled on weight - particularly in their 50's should we ? Lots of them turn into fairly big units after they leave the days of daily training and healthy eating behind. I suppose it's just an indication of how hard they actually do work to be able to be pro footballers. I wonder what C.Ronaldo will look like when he's in his mid fifties ?? I bet Messi will be like a beer barrel !! |
