The quality now around him makes him a better player. And very good man management. And last of all, competition for places All those are factors, but more important is his own determination to improve as shown in the fact that he trained throughout the summer with hardly any time off. Also the fact that he's being played in his much better position this season - the left hand side.

According to Sunday's gossip on text, Arnie rang the club in a panic when he discovered a spider on his bath!

Just saw on the SSN ticker that PC has said the club are in contract talks with Arnie and Pieters.
Both have 18 months left
IMO both need 3 year extensions on top
That would be a great Stoke present

Would be the best bit of January business if we signed them both up to new contracts, fingers crossed.

I think Eric will sign asap seems so happy but my worry is Arnie got to admit if I was him I would see what interest came off the back of the Euros. Really hope he doesn't but I can see it happening

If a bid of 15m for Arnie comes in and he's stalling on a new contract, do you sell him?

The conundrum of our progression under Hughes. We have some superbly talented players who for one reason or another are working their way back up. We give them this platform to perform in one of the worlds top leagues. If the likes of Arnie keep on improving then we are gonna have a hard time keeping them here. However I genuinely do think that our players respect the shirt, the club, fans and have a stable home with a club on the up. Hopefully these things work in our favour.

If they do want to leave we have to sell them for as much as we can though and then reinvest. And fans have got to accept it as the way we're going. Even with Shaq, I think the aim will be to make a profit on the fee.

Give Arnautovic a new 4 year contract with a £20m buy out clause, if he has a good Euro tournament and gets his head turned we'll still be quids in

15m is about as good as it'll get for any of our players.
Of course if he refuses to sign and could go for free after a year then it would make sense to sell him.
Hopefully it won't come to that though and he'll sign soon.

Arnie, like Nzonzi, isn't really going to get anything better than a top half Premier team. I can't see him leaving unless he gets itchy feet

I think Arnie is going to get a much better offer than top half prem ..
He has similar skill on the ball to Shaq and Bojan and his Shawcross built
Big guys who are good on the ball are rare and tend to attract the attention of top clubs

I'm under no illusions there however we also pay these blokes very good money and there are probably quite a lot of top sides around europe who can't pay what we do. The biggest threat could come from clubs in our own league I would say. Your liverpools etc. The grass isn't always greener though so I'd rather us tie em down. If we can.

Mustn't mess about with Arni. Give him want he wants, or if his requirements are ridiculous or, like N'Zonzi, he clearly want's to leave to a bigger club in CL, then sell and make a big bid for Yarmolenko. Maybe not this January but certainly in August if he is still vacillating.

IF we could get Yarmolenko for 20m then I would let Arnie go for 15-18m. I would consider that an excellent piece of business.
The secret of this strategy is to always have replacements ready in case your best players are bought.
Southampton have exactly this kind of planning in place.
If we dont have an adequate replacement lined-up then theres no point in selling him for less than 20m until his contract expires. Nzonzi lesson for us right there
