Some might say it's idiocy to change a winning team and drop a player who's proved his value time and time again and is arguably in the form of his career. I completely agree Foxy and you know what I think of Walters but it's fairly obvious that the club are concerned about our lack of goals with even our, normally, tight-lipped Chairman publicly stating that we will be looking for a striker in January. We miss so many chances in front of goal and Diouf is every bit as wasteful as Walters in that respect so I can understand why the club is looking for a 'finisher'. As it stands, I think the right selections are being made and results would tend to support that view. The only complaint I would have is that ALL of the players that are getting in on goal regularly of late (Walters, Shak. Arnie, Bojan in the main) need to hit the back of the net more than they do. Going back to the subject of the thread, Charlie is doing a great job and there's no-one in our squad that I think would be doing it better than he is. I would hope (and I do believe) that bayern isn't arguing with that point but wants us to sign someone better when we can. It's a fair comment on his part but I think he should acknowledge the part Charlie is playing in a very good team right now that, I think, can get much better. Yeah, I agree we are very poor at taking chances but I'm not sure Walters is the main culprit. He misses chances admittedly but Arnie and Shaq have both proved as careless, if not more so, than Jon in recent games. As much as I like Diouf I think he is also prone to missing chances. When, and if, other squad members or new signings offer better alternatives to the likes of SJW and Adam....and certainly as long as results are positive....i think they are more than worth their shirts.

I haven't seen a thread on Charlie's potential 100th appearance for Stoke. Whether he is in Starting XI or comes on as a sub could you give him an extra cheer for me.
Thanks in advance

Answer is simples - Hughsie was saving Adam for 2nd half in case we need him if the going was getting tough. He certainly would have been booked but with 45 mins less chance of getting sent off. In the end we did'nt need hnm. Yep Citeh were crap but we were brilliant!

I don't think so. Commentators here in the US made a big deal of it but the replay really didn't look so bad.

Because of who it is, definitely. Only he knows weather he meant it but history isn't on his side.

Just about to say the same thing, the closest person on the whole pitch to it was Marriner, he's what four feet away?
It does look bad on the replay but you've got to think that the ref's proximity to it means Charlie will be okay.

Well, I'm in two minds. 1) it did look to me like Charlie could have avoided treading on the bloke 2) the bloke rolled around clutching a different part of his body than the bit Charlie trod on. But I'm watching on a dodgy stream having drunk dodgy beer, so I suppose it's possible I might be a bit wrong (though this is unlikely as I've never been wrong in anything during my entire 55.5 years on this Earth)

Could've been avoided if the ref had actually blown for the foul right under his nose beforehand. Officiating was awful today.

I thought he had a pretty good game actually.
Either he saw it and didn't think it was anything like as bad as it looks on the tv, or somehow, he inexplicably missed it but if he did miss it, I'm not sure that his ego would allow him to admit as much though (he was looking right at it).
You do wonder what's going through Charlie's mind at times though.

TBF I thought he did ok for the most part. I'm just trying to get my head around the schizophrenic nature of the Oatie

Is the ruling on whether the referee 'sees' the incident or 'punishes' the incident? If the ref saw it, but decided no foul play can the FA still take retrospective action?

I think if the referee says that he saw the incident but he made the decision that it didn't warrant any action, then that is the end of the matter.
I stand to be corrected though.
