Looks like the charity has been closed. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-33800751I'm still not certain why the establishment went for them? Looks like they'll be a lot of vulnerable kids with less help from today. 650 people out of work too. Well done to the government.

I can't see why the government can be blamed totally for the closure of this charity IMO. £34m has been pumped into it by the treasury....money clearly now would have been better spent on social services to deal with these kids. To me it's very clear why the establishment went for this charity because the mal-administration of the grant that violated its conditions. That's serious stuff in anybody's book isn't it? It's a difficult moral issue though when donating money to some charities knowing that the majority will go on the charities running costs with only a fraction helping at the sharp end. The dilemna is if charities did not exist then neither would the service they provide. Who knows but some charities may exist primarily to provide jobs for the staff rather than to raise money for the services it provides.
I think we haven't heard the last of this tbh.

Never trust a self-publicist But really hope someone will quickly take on supporting the kids they've been looking after.

I had the (mis)fortune of meeting Camilla 20 odd years ago at Keele University. She was a recently qualified social worker. I thought she was very odd. A bit spooky and a bit disconcerting. I'm not surprised it's all ended in tears.
David Cameron was in a no win situation really. Damned if he didn't give Kids Company more money. Damned if he did.

That Ms Batmanghelidjh was told to step down as a condition of the grant, apparently she didn't completely step down, and took up an advisory role. All looks a bit dodgy to me. Seems Ms BATMANghelidjh has been ROBIN...See what I did there BATMAN...ROBIN...Oh well...To the Batcave for me...

This is one of those occassions where an enquiry would be helpful. The charity, by all accounts, provides a valued and vital service. Understanding what went wrong is important; did they use the money they received poorly, was public money given to them appropriately, were they overwhelmed by demand for their services, was the boss a self-serving delusional bam (which is how she sort of comes across!).

Perhaps some MPs were very 'close' to some of the kids and didn't want to disclose it .....?
