I was reminiscing about Peter Hoekstra (don't we all?) earlier and recalled him being named the 'Player of the Decade' at the Brit back in 2007. So, now the Brit has reached the legal drinking age I thought it would be a bit of fun to see what falls under the categories that were rated after the first 10 years. I'll start off. Best Goal2007 Awards - Peter Hoekstra v Reading 2015 Awards - Peter Crouch v Man City. A long ball, which was 'us' back then, but what an absolute peach of a strike. Best Game 2007 Awards - Stoke 3-0 Reading, 2003 2015 Awards - Stoke 3-2 Aston Villa, 2008. Welcome to the Premier League, Brit. Best Player2007 Awards - Peter Hoekstra 2015 Awards - Ryan Shawcross. A rock to our success and played at the Brit since 2007. What a journey, what a captain. There was a bit of a theme with the 2007 awards, wasn't there?!! We've been treated to an incredible last eight years.

Stoke 3 Villa 2 was superb, especially with fullers goal. I think Stoke 2 Arsenal 1 of the same year gives it a run for it's money. So many great memories of that first season (Beating Blackburn to secure our place inn the league and Liam Laurence collapsing on his back in the centre circle at full time is another game that's up there for me)

Methinks beating Liverpool 6-1 will rate highly It's already gone down in their modern day history books as the worst ever league defeat so I cannot even contemplate why it shouldn't be regarded as our best ever win . Post Irish Potato famine of course ....

Best goal - crouch v citeh
Best game - Liverpool 6-1. I've had a season ticket since the Brit opened. I was there when they beat us 8 in the cup and also when brum put 7 past us so for us to thrash a big club like Liverpool in the premiership is unbelievable.
Best player - captain Ryan!

Best Goal
2007 Awards - Peter Hoekstra v Reading I can think of not many others tbh (must be age lol), but can think of an absolute screamer from Richard Forsythe v Wolves that was fantastic!
2015 Awards - Peter Crouch v Man City. A long ball, which was 'us' back then, but what an absolute peach of a strike. Not many arguments there, but there are an awful lot to choose from - Ric's wonder flick v Villa was brilliant, even Nzonzis v Liverpool last game was ace. But Petes cracker - gravy!
Best Game
2007 Awards - Stoke 3-0 Reading, 2003 I would take the 1-0 (Akinbyi) all day, but lots of great games even if we were shit - the win v Sheff Weds on Boxing Day (Brynyar!), Iwelumos header v Millwall 91st Min (3-2), and that double header vs Scunthorpe and Southampton on Tues/Fri, both 3-2 in different circumstances to take us top - I believed!
2015 Awards - Stoke 3-2 Aston Villa, 2008. Welcome to the Premier League, Brit. Yep, no rel argument, although beating Man Utd, Assaidis winner v Chelsea, and the demolition of Liverpool and Spuds last season were ace. The annual culling of Arsenal (including that first season 2-1 and Olifinjanas chest, and Rorys throws!) is almost normalises lol
Best Player
2007 Awards - Peter Hoekstra What no Marco Gabbiadini? lol Mentions for Peter Thorne, Kav, Bjarni etc - got us back to at least the Championship!
2015 Awards - Ryan Shawcross. A rock to our success and played at the Brit since 2007. What a journey, what a captain. Love Ryan - a rock, but others worth a mention - Ricardo, Liam, Faye, Glen, Mama, SJW, Ethers, JP, Huth, Sorro - all came when things were iffy and got us where we are.

The first year was wank.
Sir Stan took a peno at the Boothen. It didn't reach. He walks forward to finish it off and the cunt with a microphone kicks it in.
I'm adamant that twat jinxed us for the next ten years

Surprisingly- or maybe not- but for one born and bred to the Vic, and getting on a bit, I have enjoyed some highs at the Brit that have equaled those at the Vic over many years.Another thing as an oldie, do any of you other oldies find the close season seem to get longer as the years roll on? Can't wait for kick off again, and am really excited and looking forward to another good season in the Prem, with my team. Come on Stoke!
