you don't have to be hard left to appeal to those the Labour Party need to be appealing to. The types of people labour need to appeal to are the workers, the back bone of this country. You don't appeal to them by scrapping nukes, non singing of anthems, and all the other things the media are hounding him over. Because in the grand scheme of things people care about their jobs and the economy and services. I agree with some of his policies but I won't take his good with his utmost shit Stick to the policies that the workers need. Like I repeated its the far left things which will over shadow and get more negative media attention than his decent polices. Harsh, sad but untimely true Yet again, advice from a Tory............ He's not "far left" as you keep repeating, he's just not centre right as the last lot were. oooh that "Tory" insult again Now I'm rattled

Hooray... Err, maybe not. Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott were loversThat should be enough to make the fish killer spew up his dinner. I think though it's delightful that the lovely couple (reportedly) went on a tour of East Germany together. Such a romantic place back in the 70s.

Good to see more "news" in the Torygraph. The Tory activists and layabout ex-servicemen on here will certainly revel in it.
Shameful "journalism" that has its roots embedded deep in the bowels of the Tory/Murdoch machine. This country is sick to the high teeth of this type of politics, that's why Corbyn swept to an historic landslide victory as Labour leader. But the Tory machine just keeps digging its potatoes and will eventually dig its own grave.
There's a slow train coming and you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows. A singularly disgraceful article, if you'll excuse the Dylan parlance.

I did one myself straight after I posted and I fear that my comment, like so many on here, was rash and ill thought out. In the spirit of Friday fun, I won't retract it altogether until we've had a laugh at my expense though.

Pay the debt off by growing the economy and increasing tax revenues. I've posted the economic argument for this on the Scottish Independance thread but I'm not clever enough to work out how to post a link. Make of that what you will... No agenda here. Just reason. Raising taxes is best done by making sure workers have expendable income to feed business hence feeding the treausury. Pricing people out of things by increasing the usual suspects does nothing for the economy or the debt. We are however trapped in the compressed wage bubble brought about by the introduction of cheap labour and at the other end, large companies using loopholes to avoid paying tax. Neither of these will improve anything except the profits for the greedy rich. Wow, you dredged this up from pre-history desman. Cheers mate! I had to go back and see what I was on about.
If I remember rightly, I was making a case for an anti austerity economics based upon increasing the rate of economic growth and activity, consequently increasing the tax revenue generated by the economy. I wasn't advocating an increase in any rates of tax, so I think you have misunderstood me slightly. An increase in the rate of tax would (in of itself) be anti growth in the ways you describe. In fact, I was making the case for a modest increase in state borrowing to fund infrastructure improvements etc. to generate the desired growth. Mr. Corbyn is proposing to fund something similar predominantly by an easing of the money supply, rather than by increasing borrowing. As far as I can see, from what has been said so far, any proposed tax rises are incidental to this policy.
I'm retired now and I don't have ready access to(can't be arsed to look up! ) the data on wages so I can't really comment on your "compressed wage bubble" hypothesis. As far as the economics goes though, I've always tried to play fair and I have in the past pointed to the relevant arguments against any deficit spending type policies I have been describing. NB. Those arguments apply to Mr Corbyn's plans as well

Well they are a "newspaper" and if Edward Heath is ever proven (as the mounting evidence suggests) to have bum-fucked young vulnerable homeles boys on his yacht and then subsequently throw them overboard to drown in absolute isolation, they may be accused of dereliction of duty? Just a thought. A tory Jock? You must be the only one left...

How many **************s are there then mate, and could you list them please just so we're all clear?
