Looks amazing, can't actually wait to play it! Made a Canadian PSN account on PS4 because of the exchange rate picked up a digital copy including the expansions for £45.

I'd have liked to buy it on my PC to be fair as I know it will look absolutely beautiful on it but the gameplay of The Witcher lends itself more to a controller for me so PS4 it is, can't be bothered linking my PS4 controller to PC

Xbox One users get the gimped version of the PS4 version which is the gimped version of the PC version?

Been playing this on PC the last couple of days and really begun getting into it after a slow start. Some very obscure references in there, one particular quest which was referring to the herd morality of Frederich Nietzsche and almost essentially quoting the god is dead and we have killed him stuff. A little deeper than you expect from a game.

This is probably a stupid question but it's ages since I played the second game so can't really remember it. Would I lose out on a lot by not remembering the story?

Right, it's decision time for me. Do I get this or Dark Souls 2 (have Xbox One or PC, not that it makes much difference to the decision making)? Obviously this thread is for TW3, so I'm guessing people will tend to lean towards that more but I'm looking for the following as I've bought a few games recently and failed to get into them enough to keep going for too long. I've never played a Dark Souls game.
Good combat (it seems DS2 wins this based on what I've read). A game that is interesting from the start to make sure I don't end up leaving it after a few hours of gameplay. I know these two aren't ideal for this but possibly something I could play for short spells at a time due to time restrictions (I know these, TW3 especially, are long games overall but that won't be a problem if the game keeps me interested throughout).
Any suggestions?

I'd never played a Souls game until I bought Bloodborne, didn't think I'd enjoy it. It's a phenomenal game in the way that it reminded me of old school games in it's relentless difficulty and the game design is just sublime. Dark Souls 2 is apparently the weakest of the series but still apparently really good. I found the experience really addictive and I'll hopefully pick up 2 and definitely 3 when it comes out.
The Witcher 3 is edging ever near to one of my all time favourites. It's just fucking brilliant. No quest has felt like an afterthought due to the brilliant script and voice over delivery, so the world feels genuine. Ever character has felt fleshed out, whether they're witty, endearing, interesting or just straight up wankers. Controlling Geralt is a bit wobbly but it's due to be patched any day now. The missions are broken up into chunks so you could do bit by bit at a time. But the game is absolutely huge so you'd be at it for a good while. I can't heap enough praise on it. I've got it on PS4 and it's absolutely beautiful just with occasional framerate drops but if your PC's decent enough, go for it on there.
2 completely different games and I'd say try both, but if it absolutely has to come down to 1, Witcher 3.

I've committed to The Witcher. One of the closest decisions I've made between two games. I even asked two members of staff in GAME which one they prefer out of the two (they both said they've played both). One of them said The Witcher and the other said Dark Souls 2.

Dark Souls 2 is very good, but I believe you can get Dark Souls (1) on PC. It's quite simply a masterpiece. If you play any game before you drop dead, play that. And don't give up on it early doors like i did for 6 months. I really enjoyed Witcher 2 mind, so i reckon you're pretty safe with your purchase.
