From a cup final & almost making the Premier league in the early 2000's to relegation from Football League. Football is a fickle mistress

I used to love the Tranmere away days.
Great atmospheric ground, easy to get to and always seemed to be a very competitive game.
Sad to see them sink so far. Oh why couldn't it have been the Fail?

Incredible to think my local team Barrow AFC will be playing them in the league next season! I wouldn't be surprised if Tranmere are stuck down in that league for a few years now as well, there's a lot of ex-Football league sides who are still in there trying to get out, it's a very competitive league.

Some non league clubs are getting benefactors. It's like there are five divisions now.

I think League 2 and The Conference need to add another relegation and promotion place respectively. It'd certainly help me when I play footy manager with conference sides.

I always thought it was weird that they only have 2 spots

Sad to see Tranmere go.
One of my favourite football moments from my youth was from the Stoke v Tranmere FA Cup replay in 1972.
I have forgotten the build up but out on the touchline by the Boothen Stand ex-Liverpool centre half Ron Yeats lamped Mike Bernard and was off up the tunnel before the referee had time to point.
None of this modern "violent conduct" of pushing, slapping or breathing a bit hard on to the player, it was a "proper" knock out blow and I don't think Bernard knew what day it was when he came round.
It was interesting to see the level of bitterness still felt by Ronnie Moore towards the Tranmere Chairman in his interview on The Championship after saving Hartlepool.

Too bad . Enjoyed Ronnie Moore taking the piss last night. If you come in the bottom two you deserve to go down. Mark Palios promised them this and that and now they are in the Conference.
