I really think we are placing too much emphasis on a couple of dodgy performances and forgetting some very competent ones. As a squad member good enough to compete for a 1st team place at a very reasonable price he will be a good acquisition. Whatever decision the management takes on this one I am confident they know what they are doing.

For me he's had more than a couple of dodgy performances and his general attributes don't fill me with confidence.

His displays against Blackburn and Sunderland in particular, suggest has a long way to go to be a Premier league player.Personally I don't think he even possesses the basics.

If you look at displays against Blackburn I would venture that Muni's was far worse - but everyone has games that start bad and get worse. Performances in 4 or 5 other Prem games surely suggested Wolly knew what he is doing. Personally I ain't seem many great centre halves this season so I am not sure where else we would be shopping (other than the obvious Huth situation but Hughes has all the knowledge he could have to make an informed decision on that one).

Abysmal when compared to Huth, reminds me of a Premiership version of Steven Tweed please god he is not a direct replacement for Huth or we could be in trouble next season.

12 games played, 7 wins, 3 draws and 4 games lost. Three of the four lost games, Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea, so can't be that bad. Blackburn was the really poor game, but that was from the whole team.

Squad player. Fine if cheap enough. I like him and think he could have potential but we already have a big German youth who loads better

If we keep Huth as I really hope we do, then I can see no reason to keep him. If LMH decides to sell Huth we should keep him. I will always be a bit worried about his pace though!

Pace is a massive problem, he is not an athlete which is a pre requisite for a modern day pro. footballer, his tackling is weak he tends to make important schoolboy errors, his temperament is suspect, we have better already on our books not for me.

linkAccording to EXPRESS information the British want to take the option to buy in the next few days!
Around 3.8 million euros will then flow into the pockets of the club - not a bad deal for a professional who got no chance at Bayer. Jonas Boldt (33), assistant sports director to Rudi Voeller says: "We will now wait and see. But it looks as though Stoke take the option. "

He has put in some really good performances. Take out Blackburn because they were all shit, not just Wolly. Sunderland wasn't great either but for the rest of them he looks fine. You don't get into the German squad if you are shit

posted loads of times before but his pace and mobility are going to get massively exposed however much of a pre season he has. get rid for me. That's the concern isn't it. He is relatively young for a centre half and could improve, but the areas of his game that need to improve probably won't. He's been with us for such a long time though, and he's been severely tested too - so if the management team thinks he's worth signing, we have to trust that he is. A little strange though, as he's fallen so far down the pecking order over the past few weeks.

I'm surprised that we're going through with this. Especially since he's fell out of favour in the last few weeks.

I've noticed with wollscheid if he makes a couple of mistakes early in the game it plays on his mind and he makes more mistakes and losses his cool, but if he doesn't he's a really good defender

Top league club aspiring for top 6 go out of their way to sign a snail centre half. He might adjust to English football but the lack of pace will be found out quickly and targeted.
Sorry Sparky, not convinced about this one, the league is full of pace

We need a squad of 25 players who MH can slot straight into our starting 11
Wollscheid doesn't fit into the 1st choice options at the moment imo, but but is young, has international experience and will develop.
He's good enough for our squad
3.8 million Euros is good value
There's no guarantee that injuries will not be an issue next season
We don't know who will be moving in and out, MH is wanting to do business in the transfer market early on and it would appear that Wollscheid is one of the first to be confirmed
All of our players have had poor games at sometime during the season, we seem to dwell on defenders rather than attackers, but there you go

Hopefully he'll do well but he needs to add some aggression into his game, stand off a couple of yards and read situations better and sort his questionable attitude out.

I see a bit of Arnie in him. He's constantly talking to himself after a mistake and maybe at times tries too hard to be the ball playing centre half

Wilson does make mistakes , mistakes that can/do cost us, and more mistakes than other defensive players. I know that all players make mistakes and that they dont do it on purpose but in my opinion Wilson & Wollschied make mistakes that are critical. Take them out of the equation if possible, to minimise errors. 1 mistake = 1 goal against potentially.

Waste of money. Not fit for the premier league he is littered with mistakes and slow and immobile. Bad decision by Leslie even if we have two gret seasons. Horrified every time I see him play and there's a quick forward on the opposition team.
