In modern times probably Crouch for me, although I was delighted when I'd heard about us buying Tuncay at the time.
Thoughts?

Junior Bent. If you went to Torquay you'd know the excitement was a little premature.......

Huth for me.
Couldn't believe we were signing a player of his quality for such a bargain price.
Also Palacios, but the less said about that the better.

Rikki Dadason, no seriously. After the long wait and his debut goal v Barnsley who could blame you. I shared the excitement only to be told by a good friend at the club that his knee was so bad, he could barely even straighten his left leg. It was fair to say that dadason was a good player but sadly was damaged goods.

Palacios. I thought he was mint and just what we needed.

Ian Allinson. I thought he was the man to fire us to division one. Bob Hope.

Palacios. I thought he was mint and just what we needed. So did I. As I drove back to London after his debut I listened to Jason Roberts tell the nation on 606 that Stoke City had done the best business of the transfer window with the 8m bargain capture of Wilson Palacios. He described him as an absolute bargain and one of the best midfielders in the premier league. Whatever happened to the Palacios we thought we were getting?

Arismendi was quite exciting - remember people logging on from Uruguay to say what a player we had got.

Bojan and Tuncay before him. Shaqiri for player we've been linked with, but didn't sign.

Bojan without a doubt, I can't believe how many people hadn't heard of him when the news broke of hughes's little meeting with him, then followed the usual slating after a slow start!
Could now possibly turn into one of the best signings in the clubs history!

Pennant. A player with an impressive pedigree and a Champions League finalist. In the early stages he didn't disappoint.....latterly...well...the less said the better.
Overall, more good than bad

I was excited when we signed Agudelo but that never turned out well.
Bojan was the one I was immensely exited about never in a million years did I think we'd sign a player like Bojan, I knew he'd be a hit with the fans and would be a great signing.
Earlier today I was buzzing my tits off at the prospect of signing the Drog but let's leave it at that

Probably not modern day anymore, but Peter Thorne and Mickey Thomas were both players that I always liked when I saw them play for Swindon or Man U. It took me a while to take to Thorney once we'd signed him, but Mickey never disappointed.
More up to date, and I was really excited when we signed Arnie. I'm still dead chuffed he's our player.
