www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32113614Well done Mike Ashley, not that I want them to be successful but it's nice to see a club actually living within their means for once. I know they've still been bankrolled by Ashley with the interest free loan but I'd like to think we could achieve something similar, and it certainly seems to be the way we are going given the last few transfer windows. No doubt the Geordies will be furious about this due to the lack of spending on players, but it's about time clubs put an end to ridiculous transfer fees and started focusing on player development instead.

It's a sign of the times that when a club makes a profit, it is news.
You would think that with the guaranteed income that premier clubs receive, a loss would be inconceivable.

Add another 30m onto that from the new TV money and in 2-3 years time Mike will have his loan back.

An owner who has bankrolled a Prem club now reduces transfer spending, squeezes out a profit and recovers some of the debt owed.....sounds familiar.
