I think it's true to say that the majority of supporters rate Eric as a very good footballer; a leader on the pitch; a calming influence; and all-round good guy.
At the end of EVERY match (home anyway!) he walks all 4 sides of the pitch applauding the fans - and we applaud him back!
But why oh why can't we give him a bit more? He needs a song, even a guttural generic 'One Eric Pieters' to show mutual respect between player and fan.
Over to the (John) Lennon and McCartneys of Block 19 and 25 - or even the Will I Ams!!

Pieters is probably out biggest unsung hero.
That tackle at Everton on boxing day sums him up.

Ryan shawcross aside, pieters is my favourite current Stoke City player.

Great player.
Agree we need a song for him and Crouch, Muniesa, Wollscheid, Bardo, it fascinates me watching him clapping all the mostly empty stands at the end of the game. Seems really happy here and is all about the football as I dont think his family have followed him here?

Erik has become a very reliable and hugely important member of the team.

It's actually pretty common in the Dutch leagues for the team to a small lap of the pitch clapping the fans. Whenever I've seen him to it at Stoke it's very much reminded of the Dutch tradition, and I suspect that's where he gets from.
I like Pieters. Not exceptional but a solid, consistent performer who rarely lets us down.

Side note - I was flicking through the TV channels last week and the old batman series was on. Literally the only episode I've watched with my son but it was the one in your Avatar. True story.

Another side note. I also think Bardsley has come on tremendously recently. Left or right back. Very solid at the minute after a shaky start.

Very very solid player. You think he's a lot older than he is by the way he acts.

I'll spoil the party. Eric is a sound defender and our back four looks more solid with him in it. However, he is practically worse than useless when he crosses the halfway line. He is willing, I will give him that, and always attempts to back Moses up, but he just does not have an attacking brain and always seems to lose his bottle when he has the ball in an attacking area. More than once last night he was in good positions to get a decent cross in and fucked it up.
May sound harsh when you lot are having a bit of a love-in, and I am not suggesting he is dropped or anything, just calling it how I see it.

I'd rather have a LB that is better defensively than attacking than a LB that can attack but can't defend

Just to give it the really unexpected shock factor. Then again, maybe that's overcomplicating it a little.

Most improved player from last season IMO, really starting to rate him highly.
Always the last player off the pitch too

I reckon he's every bit as good as Leighton Baines and his beard is far better than Wilson's.
Of our back four, my preference is like this:
CB - Shawcross CB - onner bothered LB - Pieters RB - onner bothered

I thought he was better last season. He's played well lately, through. He's clearly yet another leader. I reckon there could be a bunch of our squad who end up being good managers. Eric,Charlie and Glenn for sure.
