Hello to all our Stoke friends on the Oatcake, and hope you are enjoying the season.
Would you please be kind enough to entertain us with another quick questionaire for our match day thread?
1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? injuries, we lost odemwingie early on, and more recently Bojan for the season and shawcross. After the FA cup game at Blackburn we only had 14 fit outfielders.
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) balance, more flair, an evolution in our style, great value signings.
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? We have a decent squad, shawcross is a massive loss, but Bojan was turning into a real talisman.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? Injuries, and a couple more signings. Next year we'll be there.
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? Two potential champions, 5 teams for the next two positions, and the rest. Not much different than previous years. We're hoping to be top of the bottom 12 and maybe next year squeeze up one.
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? Charlatan. Looks good, but Paul jewel and Steve Bruce kept Wigan upcomfortably for years. cant organise a defence and gets found out. He's got a far better squad than your position.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next? you'll never get a better chance to dig yourself out. An injury plagued squad are there for you to snatch a result. We've lost to far worse. That said if you come to open, then we'll win. Prediction 1-1
Feel free to register with us at any time where you'll be warmly received, and thanks to all who supported our recent football competitions.
Hope it's a great game above all else and good luck for the rest of the season.

Heyup mate
1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? The boy wonder Bojan, magnifico, cruelly taken from us too early... (ok he will come back but was just hitting top gear!)
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) Kept the steel (in the main), but added the attacking flair. Midfielders cross the halfway line, and we go to away games to win not draw 0-0
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Captain Ryan. The man.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? Nothing for Europa, but I think 7th is about as much as we (and you?) can feasibly achieve nowadays - mid table league with teams like Swansea, West Ham, Newcastle etc. Anything else is a fluke season where it all comes together or one or two of the others imploding (which would be ace)
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? Two horse race, lets face it Man U and Liverpool are both beatable, Spurs hot and cold. Interesting 10th to 7th place finish 3 from the current bottom 4 (maybe add Sunderland?) to go. Villa shite!
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? Got to be honest I think he is a bit of a charlatan, and not in a Tim Burgess way Media love him, but his teams are either hari kari attack and no defence, or turgid. We were turgid under Tone, Sparky has found a good balance
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next? Messi would struggle ;-) Could be 0-0, could be 3-2, a good thing?!

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Referees. They're all fucking terrible. 2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) The speed with which he changed our style of play was unbelievable. to do it and improve results has been absolutely stunning, really. 3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Shawcross. Warrior & Leader but most of all an outstanding defender. 4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? The Chairman has lost his chequebook. I think you might know that feeling? 5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? Poor overall. It's the only place to be but its massively overrated in terms of quality 6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? Don't like him, never have. Erudite and a nice suit are not my pre requisites for a manager. I value being able to defend a bit higher myself. 7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next? We're in decent form, think we'll edge it. Was very surprised at how poor you were on Boxing Day.

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Probably the number of injuries and the form of Bojan who looks to be worth 20 - 30 £million more than we paid for him. We'll never know how much his injury has cost us in league and cup results.2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) Better football, more bargain buys in the transfer market and a feeling we could really be going places. 3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Shawcross at present - a huge steadying influence. In the future it could be Bojan if he fully recovers from his injury - he is a class above anyone we have seen for 40 years.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? Just our injury list and maybe two or three players who we hope will arrive in the summer.
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? Not as strong as in previous seasons. Chelsea apart, the top six don't really inspire me. Not grumbling though - it helps on our way to world domination!
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? Over-rated although I quite like him personally. Not a good tactician on the evidence of his time at Everton and his later years at Wigan.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next? 2-0 or 2-1 to us if recent form is followed but, knowing Stoke, we'll decide to do a charity job on you and let you win!It is funny, when we got promoted Tony Pulis (and a lot of fans including me) thought that Everton and Villa were the sort of clubs we'd like to aspire to catch. If you'd told me we'd be so many points ahead of both of you by now, I'd have said you were mad!

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Bojan's injury/Shawcross being overlooked by Roy Hodgson.
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) Introduced possession football and evolved a good team into a great squad with some very smart signings.
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Our Captain and foundation stone. Ryan Shawcross.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? Long injury list.
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? Really enjoying being part of the battle of "the best of the rest"
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? Well liked and respected, but the classic RM "elephant in the room" is once again there.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next? Open game, Stoke 2 - 1 Everton. Charlie Adam MOTM.

1. Whats the biggest talking point of your season so far? It has to be Bojans form before his unfortunate injury at Rochdale
2. Mark Hughes - How has he improved your club? ( you're 12 pts up on last season already) Firstly, he has improved our style of play - we look composed in possession. Secondly, we look more of a threat going forward. Finally, he has added flair players to complement our more industrious ones. All on a small budget.
3. Who is your most important player at the club and why? Has to be our captain Ryan Shawcross - A rock at the centre of our defence, a great clubman and is the embodiment of Stoke City FC.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? At the start of the season, it was a combination of poor home form and conceding sloppy goals. We've seemed to have turned a corner with regards to league form since Christmas. Also, injuries have deprived us of key players for extended periods of time (Bojan, Shawcross, Whelan, Moses etc.)
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? The gap between the big boys and the rest seems to have widened yet again, plus we have had some of the worst teams I have seen in this division for a very long time (Hull, Leicester, Villa, QPR and Sunderland spring to mind)
6. Roberto Martinez - whats your opinion of him? Seems to lack a plan b. Got Wigan relegated because he cannot get a team organised, but his reputation went through the roof after a fluky FA Cup win. Looked good last year, but only because he had Moyes' team. Now he has bought in his own men (Kone, Alcaraz) and has stamped his own authority on Everton, you look brittle at the back and out of ideas going forward.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - What happens next? if you could keep it tight at the back, you've got every chance of nicking something. However, you look wide open at the moment and you will present us with chances. 2-1 comeback win to us.

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Injuries most definitely. Some would argue that Shawcross and Odemwingie were our 2 most influential players last season and Odemwingies season has been finished since game 3. Shawcross looks to have had a nasty injury in his back a few weeks back and wouldn't suprise many if it kept him out for a while longer. The Bojan injury speeks for itself. 2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) Shrewd signings and new found belief away from home. 3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Shawcross and N'zonzi. When they are missing, you can really tell. 4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? Money. Coates probably gave Pulis too much money in the transfer windows and now he seems more conservative. Though that still hasn't stopped us getting some good signings in Bojan and Moses (loan). 5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? The relegation battle and battle for 4th is what I'll be keeping my eye on. Seems like it will go right to the wire. 6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? Tough question. He seems a nice guy but not a fan of his footballing style. Always seemed to bore me (ironic coming from a stoke fan, I know). 7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next?[/p] Would go for a stoke win, but somehow can't see us getting 3 wins on the bounce. I'll go for either 0-0 or 1-1.

It's been a difficult season. Next questionnaire will be ours. Really like the website, an incredible amount of time put into it obviously! Fairplay to you lot and hope you enjoy the game on Wednesday boys Thanks mate, I appreciate that. It would be great if we could ever get the kind of support that this site gets, but these things take a lot of time. If we're ever in a position to help each other (we use the same software) just let me know, as most of the big Prem forums have been sound as a pound with us, and treated us very well. We have quite a few members from other clubs, and every one of them is an absolute gem.

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Bojan - he was so good, and was a great foil for Super Jon 2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) By retaining the bulk of the Pulis team and all the Pulis attitude, and adding a couple of good players, and by good coaching I think. Our defence is not quite as good as it was, but everything else is a fair amount better. He enjoys beating our "betters", which is all we can aspire to. 3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Ryan Shawcross. Then Jon Walters. Nobody in red and white can slack when they're on the pitch. 4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? Money to support a squad of twenty good players plus five average. 5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? Not that interested in the Premier League as such. I like Stoke, and I enjoy us doing well. Otherwise, as long as Arsenal don't win it I'm not bothered. 6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? A bit of a bluffer. He'd be a good assistant to Tony Pulis. 7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next? 1-0 (Crouch 67) Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/241426/stoke-everton-match-questionnaire-loveevertonforum#ixzz3TGbjZYbh

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Bojan.
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) Built on solid foundations and introduced some flair and creativity.
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Shawcross.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? ££££
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? Meh.
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? Not good enough for the Prem, tactically naive, took a solid enough Wigan team and got them relegated, and is starting to do the same with Everton, style over substance. But no doubt he'll keep getting half decent clubs due to the FA cup win.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next?
2-1

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Injuries. there is a list as long as me arm of this seasons injuries.
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) we actually look to win games now instead of not loosing plus hes really made the old guard of pulis era improve there game like SJW and Glenn and addin some very talented players for very little money. Top Manager
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Ryan with out doubt never shirks a challenge and a great captain. criminally abused by the media and opposition fans as a thug but we wouldn't swap him for the world
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? an upgraded strike force. 15 - 20 goal a season striker
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? im lovin it I really like that we are seein more of the small teams beat big boys.
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? seems like a nice guy and and hes a good manager but its just hes struggling this season but I think he will get yous lot back up the league next year. he does need a plan b though hes a little predictable.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next? 1-0 I hope . your in poor form so we have a good chance to get a win.

Just going to reply to question4. As long as the big clubs are allowed to throw money around, nothing will change. I want to see a level playing field, but whoever runs football, doesn't! I've got a bit of a soft spot for Everton, but I hope we win come Wednesday night.

1 - Injuries 2 - More pleasing on the eye 3 - Begovic has kept us in the league for a couple of seasons previous, currently Moses as he's a breath of fresh air and Bojan is included in answer 1 4 - Reputation, but it's changing for the better, hopefully, players will be more willing to come to Stoke 5 - Not as strong / entertaining as previous seasons 6 - He's used to a relegation fight, I'm glad he's not here 7 - I've got this down as a score draw. We robbed you at Christmas, it's always good to rob a scouser, I really hope you don't get your own back 8 - ... 9 - ... 10 - ...

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Injuries. There seems to be no end to them2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) The style of play has improved significantly and away matches are fun to watch again3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Agree with everyone else, it has to be Ryan4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? Injuries and the axe weilding cash queen that is Denise5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? The standard is getting worse. European teams are doing a number on our so called best far too easily. The reason the league is exciting is purely down to how shit the defending is. The standard of officiating is at an all time low too6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him? Bit of a bell end7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next? Stoke give your back line, one that consists of the heart of the England defence a torrid time and win comfortably. Its a pity Ryan can't play to show Jagielka and Stones how easy the game can be.Read more: oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/241426/stoke-everton-match-questionnaire-loveevertonforum#ixzz3TH6mG6Xo

1. A ridiculous amount of injuries and how well we've coped with them. 2. He's kept the grit and determination from the last regime, and added pace, flair, and a bit more belief. 3. Ryan Shawcross. I can't think of another premier league centre half in the last 6/7 years who has been as consistent as him. Superb captain, and a top class defender. I honestly wouldn't swap him for any other centre back in the league. 4. When you consider that two out of Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool will probably end up in the Europa league, it shows just how difficult (and fucking expensive) that next step would be. 5. The champions league battle is decent, although it looked a lot better when Arsenal weren't in the top 4. The standard at the bottom of the table is as poor as I've known it since we got promoted to be honest. 6. As others have said, he's got no plan b and can't organize a defence. Never a good sign. 7. An entertaining 2.1 win to Stoke All the best for the rest of the season mate (apart from Wednesday).

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far? Injuries to pretty much every member of our squad.
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already) Massively. We'll always be grateful for what pulis did for us, but LMH has taken us to the next level, and hopefully beyond in seasons to come.
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why? Bojan attacking wise was detrimental to our uplift in form around Christmas time which has lead to us being 3rd in the form table now. Shawcross defensively, as already mentioned.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing? Bojan being injured. And everyone else being injured. Honestly think we'd be quite a few points better off with Bojan, oemwingie, shawcross, ireland, muniesa, pieters etc. all fit.
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year? Same as most years, But there seems to be quite a few poor teams this year.
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him?
The master of fooling everyone that he was a good manager at wigan. Somehow made people believe he worked wonders there keeping them up when in reality he was the reason for the being there. Now being shown up. 7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next Stoke 2-0 Everton

1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far?
Injuries, the most recognisable being Bojan. Was entering a great run of form and will be out long term. We lost Odemwingie and have proceeded to lose Shawcross, Pieters, Wilson, Ireland, Muniesa, Moses all at varying points throughout the season. We've not had this since being in the premier league so have found it difficult to deal with. Thankfully a large squad has just about got us through.
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already)
Hes done incredible, as mentioned above given the injuries weve been plagued with its remarkable really. Although we had the big FA cup dissapointment its a shame that its taken a shine of what could be a record breaking season for us. Hughes has improved the style of play, hes bought in some great players and spent next to no money. Hes changed the style of player to a more passing, counter attacking game. He has improved our away form and got the club/players united behind him. Hes also improved players and made current players happier with the change in style. Many of said theyve enjoyed his methods and are enjoying their time at the club even more (Crouch, Whelan, Nzonzi, Begovic, Shawcross)
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why?
Ryan Shawcross, leader, bleeds red and white and at this point in his career I dont think he will go elsewhere. And I think that will also cause others to stay.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing?
The past 3 transfer windows we've spent next to nothing. I think we struggle to attract that 'next level' of player. Weve been linked with Yarmolenko and Shaqiri, but getting them here is a different prospect. We have the money for that kind of player, but getting them to sign is difficult, and getting Hughes to find a player thats not from Barcelona will be interesting too. Hopefully his own scouts have been busy. I think we will keep the strong core of the squad (Begovic, Shawcross, Nzonzi, Bojan) we need players on their level as those four and moses are the next level for us.
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year?
Overall I think the standards taken a drop outside of Chelsea and Man City.
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him?
It doesnt look good does it....Part of seems to think he will always be a manager that struggles due to how he insists on playing, but this season especially it could be due to the Europa League. We know from a few years back it effects form.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next?
Given injuries, no Ireland. This could go one of two ways, hughes could start crouch and play two up top with Crouch and Diouf. In this case I think 2-1 stoke. Or he could play Adam in the hole behind Diouf or Crouch. In which case im not so confident as Adam isnt up to face. 1-1

While I'm here burning the midnight oil, may as well have my tuppence worth.
1. What's the biggest talking point of your season so far?
Bojan's untimely injury. The kid was showing good signs after a bit of a jittery start. Big miss so far!
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already)
Sparky has done wonders with what little cash he's had to play with so far. We're a far better footballing side these days than we were under T P.
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why?
Got to go with the general concensus here. Ryan Shawcross, captain Marvelous. The bedrock of our defense and fast becoming a great leader in the pack.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing?
Money. Big money. As simple as that mate.
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year?
Same old, same old. Never really be any different until it all implodes. I have to say, for all the media hype around the EPL, I do feel it's becoming less entertaining to watch overall.
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him?
Can't really say too much about your present manager (probably won't be with you too much longer) other than I do think he will take a great traditional football club down if he stays at the helm for too much longer.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next?
My heart goes for a convincing 3 Nil win to my beloved Stoke.
My head says completely different, so putting the two together I'll go for a more realistic display and result.
A less than entertaining 1 - 1 draw (if our team turn up this time out).
No matter what the result this coming Wednesday night, I wish Everton Football Club, their fans and everyone concerned with the club all the very best for the remainder of the season.

1.What's the biggest talking point of your season so far?
Bojan getting injured at Rochdale and just the injury crisis we had in general after the turn of the year.
2. Mark Hughes - how has he improved your club? (you're 12 pts up on last season already)
Improved the football no end, made us competitive on the road for the first time since we've been promoted, signed some really gifted technical "non-Stoke" players such as Bojan and Muniesa. He's also lifted ambition at the club and has got us looking up and not down.
3. Who is the most important player at your club and why?
Bojan by an absolute mile, the most technically gifted player I've seen in a Stoke shirt and it's tragic he's had his season cut short as he hit top form. In his absence has to be Captain Fantastic himself, Ryan Shawcross. Absolute rock.
4. What factor is stopping you from taking the next step and becoming regular challengers for a Europa placing?
Would say it was mismanagement of transfer money under Pulis, Hughes has been extremely limited in funds since he's been manager. We've spent around £5 million this season and brought in around 6/7 players, so great stuff again from Sparky.
5. What is your opinion on the Premier League competition this year?
Lower in quality than previous seasons but a lot more congested and competitive, Chelsea are the only real stand-out team. Terrible downturn in quality of refereeing.
6. Roberto Martinez - what is your opinion of him?
I personally like the guy and his attitude/enthusiasm, but I think he's lost his way a lot since last season. Seems committed to playing a certain style but then unwilling to mix it up when it's not working. I take your game against West Brom as a case in point, you kept trying to walk it in.
7. Stoke v Everton on a cold Wednesday night at the Britannia Stadium - what happens next?
First goal is crucial, if we get it, I think it will be 2-0. If you score first I reckon a score draw due to the shakiness of your backline.

1: Filling the corners in 2: Quality signings on a budget, unlike Roland Rat who spent millions to sit on the bench 3: Would have to say Shawcross but we have lots more quality, but don't worry they're all injured 4: The top six 5: it's shit,I'd rather have the Coors Sunday League 6: Like everyone else, nice bloke but failed to deliver, really thought you would do well this season, but hey, what do I know.By the way,how long do you think it will take him to get a scouse accent,AKA Jan Molby 7: Kinell, who do think I am,Mystic Meg By the way, hope you get battered on Wednesday then win the Europa League, proper club & fans is Everton, and had quite a good fashion sense in the 80s,well a few of you used to where decent trainers.
