I would say Sergi Roberto is a bit more of a "box to box" midfielder than Xavi, something more essential in the Premier League as well.

Lennon didn't have two mates doing well here and it isn't our fault he made the wrong choice Lennon knew he was going to the poorer side, that's the only way he would get a game This. Lennon has actually paid us a complement is joining Everton. He thought he'd struggle to break into our side and thought he would get more game time at Everton.

A salivating prospect. Barcelona players through the spine of the team... World domination awaits.

Everton, a team on the decline - and relegation battlers.
Stoke, a team on the up with two ex-Barca players loving their time at the club and receiving unwavering support and adulation from the fans.
I'm pretty confident that he'd pick us, if Everton are the only other option.
I'd also assume that he would compete with / replace Whelan. No way is Zonzi getting replaced unless he wants to leave or we decide to sell him.

I don't think I've ever seen him play but know he's been very highly regarded. Can anyone describe what kind of midfielder he is? He was educated to play the metronome role, dictating the pace of the team and controlling the ball. Useful when attacking or defending it's a simple playstyle that's actually really difficult. Xavi would be the player most like him. Fantastic potential, not being quite good enough for the Barca first team is no shame although he has played over 50 times for the first team. Not really a defensive mid but we would have to adjust midfield roles slightly to drop Whelan. I wouldn't be dropping anyone, players need to earn their place.

If it came down to a straight fight between us and Everton there is no doubt in my mind he'd choose us. Twenty three year old in a foreign country, what more can you ask than having two of your best mates lining up alongside you? What's more two of your mates who are very happy playing football at Stoke City.
Those factors far out weigh a few thousand quid and I am not convinced Everton would pay much more than us anyway. The only other factor would be if Everton won The Europa.
For me we are very much favourites.

You would think so, but with the increased TV money, their other revenue streams (which are more than ours) become less of a factor. I can't see them offering more than we could as they already have higher earners and will be under pressure to buy some players if their league finish is below expectations (bottom half). Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see them offering obscene wages to this guy either.

Not sure what kind of fee would be involved though, but this also is not a problem for us and could match Everton if we wish.
I think there is a little clique in Cheshire with Spanish speaking players, De Gea, Mata, Bojan, Muniesa etc. I know Merseyside is not far away but his mates being with us and doing well is the biggest thing of all in our favour.
Would love this to come off.

Maybe its time we agree a deal with Barca to sell each others merchandise in our respective club stores.
Perhaps organize a pre-season friendly against them too.

I think you're wrong about the mates thing. You only need to look at the social media for Muni and Bojan to see that it's clearly important.

They also hang out with De Gea. They can still be mates living in the same area playing for North West clubs.

In fairness I'd back us as the more attractive proposal in that fight
what, like Aaron Lennon?
Lennon didn't come to us because he wanted game. Ie he's more likely get in the Everton side than ours, and that tells you...
