Daley here. Thought I'd pop onto give you a local's guide, and to answer some concerns raised here.
Most of us have never seen Dale land a really big tie away at somewhere like City, Spurs or United and we were hoping that at last we'd get a really big fish away to cash in as we know we're not going to win the cup. Ergo, many were initially a bit underwhelmed when we got Stoke at home, but having thought about it, most have warmed to the tie as we're playing a big, established NW Prem club who will most likely help fill the ground.
Talking of which, I think our away ticketing policy is to send you an initial allocation of 2500. Assuming these sell out you'll be sent around another 900. The away stand holds something like 3700, but we always sell it as "unreserved seating" which means we have to lose 10% of the capacity. Basically GMP don't have confidence in our stewards to get 3700 people sitting in the right seats. We'd probably do a lot better if we could borrow some of your stewards for the occasion, but that's not likely to happen.
If you're driving, it's M6, M62, M60 to J20. Be careful though, the M60 is a 50mph zone both ways. It's street parking, and there are two pubs/bars at the ground, or real ale fans will probably prefer The Cemetery Hotel which you pass en route anyway.
If coming by train Manchester Victoria to Rochdale is about 20 minutes as long as you don't get the one that goes via Oldham. At Rochdale, you can walk outside the train station and catch a tram into the town centre (2 mins) and the Rochdale tram stop is outside our Wetherspoons, plus there are other real ale pubs in town - Flying Horse and The Baum. All do food. Alternatively, you can catch the tram from Manchester Piccadilly which takes you straight into our town centre, but it's about 20 mins longer.
From The Baum (voted Britain's best pub 2013) it's about a 20 minute walk to the ground up Spotland Road.
I think you'll find us a very old fashioned traditional cup away day. We are what we are and that's about it really.

Pretty sure we will sell out, can't see any reason we wouldn't, an away day at a real football club, what's not to like?

Louis Moult last round Matthew Lund next round Unfortunately not. Matty dislocated his shoulder, then in his comeback game did it again. I believe he's out for most of the season. A popular player here and signed an extended contract to 2016 - after a bit of emming and awing.

We're looking forward to the game, as you seem to be too. We try to play good football, usually successfully, and in the right way - we don't tend to dive, lie on the ground feigning injury or try to steal yards at throw-ins and free kicks. From what I have seen of Stoke on the telly, your lads and manager have the same approach. Like us, you are a proper club.
Whilst we realise we are underdogs, we have done well against championship clubs the last couple of years. Last year, although obviously I am biased, we footballed Leeds Utd. to death, winning 2 - 0, then narrowly lost 1 - 2 to Sheffield Wed. This year, we were somewhat fortuitous to get away draws against Northampton and Aldershot, winning the replays reasonably comfortably. The last round, we beat Notts Forest 1 - 0, though it could have gone either way.
Hope you enjoy the trip. You have the best stand on the ground. Also the best chippy for miles around, right opposite the turnstiles on Willbutts Lane.

Aye. The Cemmy still stocks 2 or 3 Taylors beers as does The Flying Horse in the Town Centre square opposite our world famous Town Hall!
It's a proud boast that Rochdale avoided the Luftwaffe in WW2 as Hitler wanted to take our town hall brick by brick back to Germany after he'd won to live in it. You'll see why if you visit the Flying Horse.
The Baum does varied real ales, and also stocks continental beers for those who like bitch piss!

"My only worry is Crouch at corners. Let's hope he gets sent off prior to the game. And we owe that Charlie Adams one for ruining the career of one of our bright prospects" Bloody hell Charlie, another one?! Not Quite....???? Dale physio Andy Thorpe told the official Rochdale AFC website: “He was taken straight to hospital where he had an x-ray and had his leg put in plaster. He’ll require surgery due to the nature of the fracture, and we expect this to take place later in the week. "After the operation Reece will spend around two months in plaster before starting the rehabilitation process. At the moment it is looking likely that he'll be sidelined for up to six months." The severe injury, caused by an awkward fall, is a huge blow to Gray and Rochdale boss John Coleman; with it likely the talented striker will be out-of-play for the majority of what could have been his breakthrough season. Gray was quick to dismiss the fracture was caused through foul play, Tweeting after the accident: "Just like to reassure everyone that it was not Charlie Adams or any other player that caused my injury, was just a freak accident." Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam also added to the overwhelming support for Gray, saying: "Just like to wish Reece gray of Rochdale FC a speedy recovery after his serious ankle injury today in the game. Hope he back soon."

All we can offer is good beer, a good chippy and football in a traditional old stadium. It's not much, I know, but it's the nearest you'll get to the days you spent at Boothen. Especially when you weren't top flight. (late 80's?)
