According to Sky Sources.....Morgan likely to be appointed. Positive step? Definitely a positive step for both the ODI side's chances, and for Cook's career. Sense has finally prevailed.

Morgan's form at the moment should not give him a place either, start from scratch and give the captaincy to Root, we could not do any worse than we have been doing.

About time! Bish won't appreciate the appearance of The Dickie Ambass. He will be fuming. He is a fan of COOK and the appearance of DICKIE on a CRICKET thread will send him up the wall. Good job the old chap is miles away.

An overdue decision. Should have gone after the ODI series defeat against India in the summer (of course, he never should have been in the ODI side full stop).
Instead he went to Sri Lanka and failed miserably. Which was absolutely no surprise. What we've lost is the opportunity for Hayles to gain some much needed experience, and for Morgan to put his stamp on the captaincy.
Pathetic management from England and very poor from Cook putting his interests ahead of the team.
There is no satisfaction or pleasure at this decision today. Just a feeling of utter frustration at the people charged with running the game. BTW - if you want proof of this listen to the TMS podcast interview with Paul Downton this week. A man who is completely unable to see the real world because he's got his head up his own arse.
What I'd now like to see is Cook relieved of the test captaincy as well so he can go back to the one thing he is best at - opening the batting in test matches. Focus on that and that alone. Because, frankly, you've been pants at that for far too long.

Hi Bish. The unthinkable has happened it will cause a rift in the force that's for sure. In short Cook's gone. They must find someone else to blame for everything now .......it's hard work trying to post on here from where I'm online in this bar ....! And I'm only drinking Coffee Wifi is becoming a must when you're out send about these days. It's brilliant. Having someone to blame is part and parcel of English sport. Fail, as we usually do, and there will be some blame flying around. Fair enough. The Cook situation took this into a whole new space. I can't recall anything quite like it. The whole of the English management needs to take a long look at themselves for creating a farcical situation. Cook needs to reconsider what his priorities are; the selectors have to think about their whole approach to selection. For me, the no.1 aim for 2015 is regaining the Ashes. A very tough ask because Australia look to have the makings of a decent side. Our top players will need to be on top of their game. And that included Cook, whose primary value to the team is with a bat in his hand. Hope you are enjoying the sun - it's cold and wet in Glasgow!

Cook is a brilliant Test opener. But hes always been shit in ODI's and has never been a good captain in either Test's or ODI's
I think Morgan is much more inventive in the field, lets hope the responsibility can see the return of his batting form.
For the Test side I would like to see Stuart Broad given the captaincy because he often seems to be the only guy thinking on the field. For some reason the ECB doesnt like bowlers as captains?? Which makes absolutely no sense to me - I always thought that bowlers are more intelligent than batsmen when it comes to setting fields and planning how to get players out.
