Remember all those hours messing about with the vertical hold on TVs. It was fun wasn't it?
Kids don't understand these days.

First of all I thought this was going to be a wrestling thread, but Christ yes, I do remember the old vertical hold, was there not a horizontal hold too? You could die of old age trying to get a decent picture couldn't you

In fact opening the top of a stuck jam jar is just about the only other one remaining, before we become completely redundant.

Yes getting the perfect picture was an art in itself .....twiddling with those two little buttons on the back of the set with your right hand whilst peeking around the side of the screen to check the picture was correct .....happy days

We were posh because we had a colour tuner as well as vert/ horizontal hold. And no remote controller to lose or fight over.

I always thought this was Alan's Telly Vision. slightly better than the centre dot after in the middle of the screen which was accompanied by a noise to fall asleep to after a night on the nats piss.

I remember having a black and white portable, that had a knob to turn for switching channels, a bit like the old car radios used to have. Getting a decent picture on it was nigh on impossible and as for watching the snooker...
