When do we ever praise teams when we lose?
Usually we only lose if our manager and/or some/all of our players are wank. Apparently.
As if we only play ourselves.

We haven't lost a home game where that hasn't been the case this season. But yeah, I can't remember the last time I praised an opposition side, I thought Villa and Leicester deserved to win but both were utter shit sides.

I often go on the oppositions forums and see what they have to say about us
You mostly get praise from a few supporters if we have deserved to win, that's all my point is
and I think we did deserve to win, we were very good

We did. I think the last time I think I said a team deserved to win at our place was Norwich last season. And probably Liverpool after a few days of getting over the Spanish penalty.

I thought we did play well, but they were shocking and I'm not sure that was all us, they messed up plenty of simple passes with no pressure etc, I think I'd be the same as them, they've got a lot to worry about from their showings so far.

There was a lot of praise for Southampton in the first half of the cup game. But we were shite though.

I do enjoy reading other teams forums for their opinion of the match but it hardly matters if they praise us or hate us. I'm only disappointed nobody mentioned nello for going down to see that poor lad from their fan base.

I don't really expect any praise from other fans and to be honest they are probably more pre occupied with their piss poor home form to think about handing out any praise,

Although not read/heard loads of media reports about our match, what I have he read/heard has all been Spurs. Nothing about Stoke at all apart from a brief mention of Bojan and that was only so the writer could fit in the Barcelona link. As someone mentioned though, Spurs were awful so in that respect they are the newsworthy team. Id be happy if we were never mentioned again if we kept playing and winning like we did!

As someone mentioned though, Spurs were awful so in that respect they are the newsworthy team. Id be happy if we were never mentioned again if we kept playing and winning like we did! Daily Mail "Ryan Shawcross: ‘Shawcross for England’ sing Stoke fans. Not far off now. 7" There will be another inquest up at the training ground on Monday after Pochettino’s team slumped to their four defeat in five home matches in the Barclays Premier League. Stoke were streets ahead of them: slick, organised, disciplined and focused. All the things Tottenham want to be but never will be. Stoke were rampant in the first half, taking the lead through the wriggling figure of Bojan Krkic and doubling it when Jonathan Walters scored with a simple tap in. Nice, easy money. So, to Stoke, then, and this glitzy performance., Bojan’s first goal in English football was a good ‘un, ghosting - make that coasting - past Tottenham’s non-existent defence to lash the opener beyond Hugo Lloris. Can Bojan, once tipped to be even better that Lionel Messi during his spell at Barcelona, do it on a wet, windy night in Stoke? That’s not so clear cut, but what we do know is that the little Spanish forward found White Hart Lane to his liking. Even when Stoke were forced into a defensive reshuffle, they were untroubled throughout a first half dominated by Hughes’ side. Phil Bardsley succumbed to injury after nine minutes and was replaced by Geoff Cameron. Marc Wilson was substituted for Marc Muniesa after 26. Moments later, Stoke scored again. This defence needs sorting out because the goal Walters scored was too easy. Mame Diouf bounced through unchallenged, into the danger zone and placed the ball into the path of Walters for the Stoke forward to finish off the job. Sadly for Kane, Stoke’s giant of a centre half Ryan Shawcross handled him impeccably. The kid hardly got a kick. Guardian:Mark Hughes’s team were able to withstand two changes to their backline but remain largely comfortable and they eased into a two-goal lead they did not relinquish. Opportunism, organisation and a firm dose of Premier League knowhow was enough to squash the shoots of optimism that Tottenham developed with a little run that included two cup wins. Stoke merited their advantage. The way Krkic drifted deep to cause damage and worked so hard while he was at it was impressive. Walters and Victor Moses timed their runs from wide positions with thoughtful discipline. Behind them Steven Nzonzi dominated midfield. Hughes was delighted with the contribution of his counterattacking players, but equally pleased with the way his team reorganised defensively considering they lost half their backline in the first half to injury. Phil Bardsley pulled his groin and then Marc Wilson pulled a hamstring with over an hour to go. Stoke remained strong. “From start to finish we had a gameplan and understood what was required,” Hughes said. Telegraph: Tottenham Hotspur vs Stoke City, Premier League match report - Mark Hughes's side secure deserved victory at White Hart Lane and pile pressure on the Spurs manager thanks to fine first-half strikes. Stoke fans were chanting 'Shawcross for England’ and, on the evidence of another commanding performance, it was hard to disagree. obviously they do talk about Spurs and how awful they were in those reports but it just goes to show the media will happily praise us when we deserve it...just funny that no-one on here ever seems to bring up the good bits about us that are written

naa pwingy9, you got me all wrong
it wasn't meant to be one of those type threads, just merely an observation that scrolling through 36 pages of spurs fans talk that not once was our play mentioned, and I was surprised by that by how well we played

As I said in my first line, I haven't read/heard lots of media coverage from post game, but the few things I did hear, including a 20 minute in depth discussion on Radio 5 this Monday failed to mention one sentence about us, the fact it was us that beat them was just a footnote and had no bearing on the game, as Spurs only lost because the manager doesn't know his best team yet, and not because (like in my opinion), Stoke had 11 better players than them.

I always try to give the opposition their due, i certainly said as much about Villa where to me it was a genuine case of them making us play badly, rather than us just being shite, Villa pressed us high, kept up a really impressive tempo without leaving themselves exposed in behind there CB's. pretty much exactly what we did to spurs but we showed much more going forward.

I've never been one of those people spouting the anti-Stoke media bias stuff, just on the scale of newsworthy teams, we are never going to be at the top of anybodies list popularity-wise, not to say we won't get credit when it's due.
