Not sure if this has been posted previously but here goes David James was declared bankrupt earlier this year despite earning in excess of a whopping £20million from Football, here is a link to his former belongings that are up for auction....that I think starts tomorrow, some beautys with England signed shirts but the Paul Smith Astra van is a bit much. A good example is Ray Parlours wife. She got 50% of his net assets, including two houses worth over a million pounds each a fairly lucrative lump sum. He was also ordered to pay £200k maintenance a year. She appealed this verdict claiming it was too low. He appealed claiming it was too high. The court ruled in her favour upping it to 400k a year. Now this was back when footballers weren't paid anything like the ridiculous wages that they are now. It's fair to say a huge chunk of his wages went straight to his wife, even after he retired. No surprise that most players now have prenuptial agreements. |

I think he got shafted by his ex wife. nope...he was ordered to pay her £3mill in the divorce after he walked out on here and their 4 kids for another woman giving with no warning or reason given by him. she basically found out when bailiffs turned up trying to seize goods becuase he stopped paying the mortgage and bills for cars etc. and when 2 of her children were sent home from school because he hadn't been paying their fees. top bloke! when she got together with him he was earning £100 per week so hardly married him for his money! the legal bills shafted him because he wanted to get out of it without having to leave her (or his kids...he consistently "forgot" to pay the maintenance the courts had awarded) with anything including the several properties he'd invested money into. he even tried to sell her parent's house that had been left to them. easy to say the woman shafted the footballer when all too often it's actually the greedy to fuck footballer trying to get away without having to face up the same kind of responsibilities that every other Joe Public has to. |
