Hi all!!! First time poster so please be gentle with me!! As you can probably guess I hail from Edinburgh and have bought tickets for the Chelsea game. My son's a massive fan but so far hasn't had the opportunity to see the Potters in the flesh, too busy watching Hibs getting humped It's his 18th the day before so we're coming down as a wee surprise for him. Anyways, I was looking for a few pointers e.g. where's best to stay, pre/post match drinks. Was thinking town centre for the hotel for being handy for drinks post match, but where's best before? Is there a supporters club near the stadium? Looking to get involved with the pre match atmosphere!! Many thanks in advance

Well there is a holiday Inn express within 400 yards of the ground if that appeals.
Prematch I would go to the White Star. A good few would say Greenhoffs. Take you pick! I try to go in The White Star but tend to go in Deliahs. Again you will get different opinions.
Enjoy the day and hope we get a result!

The Graythwaite Guest House in Newcastle-under-Lyme is a cracking B&B for a couple of nights stay. The Greyhound over the road is a decent boozer, couple of early drinks there and then walk into Stoke for a few beers before getting the bus to the game. It's a 20 minute walk but if you're both fit it's no problem. Plenty of decent curry houses on King Street as well and Newcastle town centre is a 5 minute walk away.
If it's a hotel chain you're after the Holiday Inn is your best bet although being stuck on an Industrial Estate/Retail Park is a bit depressing in my opinion, it is literally 2 minutes away though..

Are these pubs close to the stadium? There aren't really any pubs close to the stadium. There are a few places to have a beer:- Delilah's is in the ground cost £2 to go in. The Harvester, the Power League, and Hem Heath Cricket club are all in the immediate area. For a proper pub experience you are looking at a 20 min walk to the stadium. Gardners retreat in Boothen is a proper boozer that's popular pre match. After the game the pubs WP mentioned are in Stoke town centre about 25 min walk from ground. Note this is NOT the City Centre that's in Hanley about 3 miles from ground. That is where most of the lively venues are. BM

Is it easy enough to get in to?

Stoke on Trent is a bit bizarre mate as it has a town called Stoke within it Get in a taxi and ask him to take you to Stoke from the hotel ( £5 max ) or a bus and sample the pubs down there then follow the crowds to the stadium which is about 1.5 miles away

When someone mentioned Newcastle I was bamboozled I suppose I'm spoiled with having a ground surrounded by pubs........

Kenwood Guest House on Stoke Road is decent as well, 10 minute walk from Stoke town centre so ideal for pre-match boozers.

Just got the tickets through the door, section 36 in the south stand. Looks like it's right next to the Chelsea fans? What's the segregation like after the game?

You come out of the stand and have to go left with the home support, the away fans are penned off in their own car park.

Just don't mention Stenhousemuir Someone may have to explain it to him. Don't tell me Stoke have suffered at the hands of the warriors as well!!? Many a good man have never returned from stenny and those who did won't speak a word of their experience. It's like a story line from a Stephen King novel that place.

Well after what's got to be some of the worst driving conditions I've been in coupled with the M6 getting closed, the drive took 8 3/4 hours instead if just over 4!!! We got in just as they kicked off after leaving at 11am ????
As for the game, it was always going to be hard after they got the early goal. They've got so much quality and keep the ball really well. There were a few glimpses to get into the game before the second and the keeper had a great save from a deflected shot when Stoke were well on top. The final ball was too often disappointing though. ????
Quick question; is Arnautovics usually as gash? I can remember him being decent but he really disappointed last night. He got a lot of the ball but not once tried to go past the full back instead deciding to pass the ball back and slowing down attacks. The fastest he ran all night was when he was being subbed!!

These self made chods look promising, just hope they're as effective when I take on Ossmere as they seem to be nibbling all over. Guess I'll have to lower the delks sensitivity.
